WATCH: Actual Surveillance Footage of 2AM Seulong's Car Accident Causing Death of Pedestrian
Seulong (33), a member of the K-pop group, 2AM, was recently involved in a fatal car accident, taking a man's life. As the news was reported, fans and netizens were curious about what really happened. From the obtained footage from the scene, police are currently investigating if what the idol-actor's responsibilities are to the unfortunate event.
On August 5, Korean media outlet, Joongan Ilbo, was able to get an exclusive surveillance video showing the actual scene before 2AM's Seulong car hitting a jaywalker, causing his death.
In the video, a man wearing black with an umbrella was seen entering a wet three-way street near DMC Station in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, at approximately 11:50 p.m. on August 1. Shortly after, a white car driven by Seulong was shot on a nearby CC (closed circuit) TV when he hit a pedestrian crossing a crosswalk in red light.
The 26-second CCTV obtained by JoongAng Ilbo also showed how the man "A," who tried to cross the lane on a red light, also ran away after confirming that a vehicle is coming but is unable to avoid the accident.
According to the police, "A" crossed the crosswalk when the pedestrian signal was on a red light. He was taken straight to the hospital but died. It was raining at the time of the accident.
"Only when we investigate the exact circumstances of the traffic accident can we determine Lim Seulong's responsibility and the level of punishment," the Seobu Police Station in Seoul said. It is expected that Seulong will determine the ratio of negligence and punishment by combining the speed of the vehicle he was driving at the time of the accident and the situation at that time.
Meanwhile, according to the media as well, some of the factors that are being considered were, the color of the clothing of the pedestrian, the proximity of the driver on discovering "A," the opportunity of the driver to avoid the accident, as well as the external factors such as the location, weather, etc.
However, it is believed that the "A" violated the law after jaywalking, resulting in a fatal accident. Also, it is confirmed that Seulong is not under the influence of anything, may it be alcohol or any substance, neither he violates traffic lights nor the maximum speed of driving a car.
On the other hand, netizens, fans, and supporters of the idol actor were sorry for the shock it caused to him and sent their condolences to the bereaved family.
