BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez Shares Excitement over ‘ICE CREAM’ Release through Video Call

BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez shared their excitement and joy ahead of the release of their collaborative song "Ice Cream" through a video call.

YG Entertainment released a teaser video for BLACKPINK's "Ice Cream" on its official SNS on Monday, which contains the video call of the K-pop group and the international star, nicknamed as SelPink. Also, a digital single cover image of "Ice Cream" and a very short but impressive sound were inserted, raising global fans' expectations.

Initially, when the video call began, the members of BLACKPINK extended their hands to Selena Gomez and greeted her with warm welcome. Jennie, Jisoo, Rose, Lisa, and Selena all looked all elated. In addition, they expressed their special feelings toward one another, giving them a glimpse of the special meaning of their much-anticipated collaboration.

Rose said, "I'm so happy to work with you. We've been fans of you (Selena Gomez) for a very long time." Selena Gomez also said, "I've been a fan of you. It's really like a dream to be together," she revealed and the conversation continued.

This is the first time that the two artists have been shown together since the news of their collab. It was a surprise gift for fans waiting for their meeting and the release of their song "Ice Cream."

In particular, the background sound used before and after the video call scene stimulated fans' curiosity. The cheerful yet refreshing sound that seemed to herald the atmosphere of "Ice Cream" caught the ear of the listeners at once, raising questions about the mystery song of Selpink which stands for Selena and BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK has fired more spectacular comeback signals than ever before this year. "How You Like That," which was pre-released in June, topped iTunes in 64 countries, ranked second on the Spotify Global Top 50 chart, and ranked 33rd and 20th on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the U.K.'s Official Singles Top 100, respectively, breaking the K-pop girl group's all-time high ranking.

The combination of Black Pink and Selena Gomez is drawing more attention. Another pop star Ariana Grande also posted on her SNS account, "I'm proud and excited about this team. I really love this team and this woman (Selena Gomez)."

BLACKPINK's "Ice Cream" will be released at 0:00 p.m. on Aug. 28 and at 1:00 p.m. KST on the same day. The collaboration between YG and Universal Music, the world's largest music group, is expected to give BLACKPINK a bigger wing in 2020.
