The common reasons why K-pop groups disband is because the members decided to go separate ways, failed contract negotiations, or even due to lack of popularity. These groups are different, however. Here are some of the weirdest reasons K-pop groups disbanded.

1. Triple H

Triple H was a trio under CUBE Entertainment consisting of PENTAGON's Hui, HyunA, and former PENTAGON member E'Dawn, who now goes by the stage name Dawn. They debuted in 2017 with "365 Fresh". In 2018, the group ran into controversy as rumors started going around that HyunA and Dawn were dating. While the company initially denied the rumors, the two members themselves came forwards and announced they were in a relationship.

The trio tried to move on with promotions, but the backlash against them had gotten so strong that they had no chance but to stop promoting. CUBE Entertainment then announced that both HyunA and Dawn's contracts were terminated due to the trust between them being broken. The group ended up disbanding following their departure from the company.

2. S#ARP

S#ARP was a co-ed team that debuted in 1998. One of the members, Seo Ji Young, was born into an influential family, and her father spent a lot of money setting up a company to let her debut. The group did extremely well at the pea of their fame. Then, the company decided to recruit a woman named Lee Ji Hye to be the group's main vocalist.

Seo Ji Young grew incredibly jealous of Lee Ji Hye and started bullying her tremendously. She even got her boyfriend and family to bully her. Seo Ji Young eventually asked the company to kick Lee Ji Hye out of the group, but they refused. A major incident between the two was when they were caught fighting in the elevators of a music show, which ultimately led to the disbandment of the group in 2002.

3. GLAM

Many know GLAM as Big Hit Entertainment's first and only girl group. During their debut, they were five-member, but member Trinity ended up leaving in 2012 for "personal reasons". It was revealed that Trinity was a sasaeng of Super Junior's leader, and she had been harassing until shortly before her debut.

In 2014, member Dahee was arrested for threatening actor Lee Byung Hun, with accomplice Lee Ji Yeon, a South Korean model. They threatened to leak a video of the actor making lewd and inappropriate comments while the three of them were having drinks. They told him that if he paid USD 5 million, they would not leak the video.

Lee Byung Hun filed a case against Dahee, and she was revealed to have tried to book flight tickets to escape investigation. A warrant was filed, and they officially arrested Dahee in 2015 for attempted threat and was sentenced to two years of probation. She ended up getting out on USD 20,000 bail.

Following the legal controversy, Big Hit Entertainment announced that they could no longer continue as a group.

4. Swi.T

This might be the creepiest reason yet. Lee Eunju was a member of Swi.T and is the younger sister of former Sechskies member Lee Jaejin. Yang Hyunsuk, the CEO of YG Entertainment at the time, has spotted Eunju during a broadcast of Jaejin giving a tour of his house. At the time, she was a middle school student.

In a 2012 episode of "Healing Camp," Yang Hyunsuk revealed he was interested in her when he saw her on the broadcast. To get close to her, he scouted Eunju to become a member of the girl group Swi.T. However, he revealed that he had hoped the group would not do well, as he was afraid Eunju would become too popular.

He said, "They would have done well if I had invested more into that group. But I was afraid that she would catch on, and so I purposely paid less attention to that group. I did not know what to do as the CEO of the company, and also as a man. I don't usually get nervous, but it was so hard to ask her to be with me. I was afraid she would not think of me as a man."

He did everything in his power to make sure Swi.T would not gain popularity. Yang Hyunsuk and Eunju, a girl who is 12 years his junior, started dating. Swi.T ended up disbanding. Yang Hyunsuk and Eunju are now married.
