Son Ho Young Will Remain Hospitalized For The Rest Of The Week: G.O.D. Singer Still On Suicide Watch Over A Week After Girlfriend's Death [VIDEO]

Nine days after his girlfriend ended her own life, G.O.D. singer Son Ho Young remains on suicide watch at Seoul's Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital.

Son attempted to kill himself on May 24, in the same manner as his girlfriend, by lighting a coal briquette inside his car and attempting to overdose on sleeping pills, according to the website Soompi.

The K-pop singer, who was pulled from his burning car just moments before the vehicle burst into flames, continues to be treated for his burns, smoke inhalation and the lingering effects of the pills.

But the real wounds, a source close to the singer told Hankyung.com's WStarNews, are to Son's heart.

"Son Ho Young is still in the hospital, recovering," the source said.

"Rather than a physical injury, the scars in his heart are very deep. He is not ready to be released from the hospital."

The singer will reportedly remain hospitalized for the remainder of the week, but his return to show business could take somewhat longer.

"Son Ho Young is still under suicide watch so it'll probably be hard for him to resume activities once he is released," said another anonymous source close to the G.O.D. singer.

The day of Son's suicide attempt, a Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital spokesman discussed the singer's mental state at a short press conference inside the facility.

"Although Son Ho Young is past the emergency state, he is in an unstable mental condition," the spokesman said.

"We are going to move him to the Intensive Care Unit to watch his progress for two to three days."

On Tuesday, the website Asian Junkie published a scathing editorial, blaming online K-pop fans and the media for the singer's suicide attempt.

"The media has been playing an active role in connecting [Son Ho Young] with [his girlfriend's] suicide by continuing to harp on the fact that she mentioned that she felt disappointed by him in her suicide note," the editorial reads.

"So they essentially tried to scapegoat him for her death when he had nothing more to do with it than typical relationship problems.

In the wake of Son's girlfriend's death, the South Korean publications Sports Hosun and Sports Chosun revealed several lines of what their reporters claim is the deceased girl's suicide note.

"I had a lot of worries because of debt," the G.O.D. singer's girlfriend allegedly wrote, adding, "I feel disappointed by Son Ho Young."

By providing this information to fans, the Asian Junkie writer added, the media played an active role in Son's plan to kill himself.

"The media are absolutely complicit in his suicide attempt," the editorial reads.

"They are giving the netizens power, and in this case, they acted on their own as well in their treatment of the story, showing absolutely nothing resembling journalism ethics."

Reader CheesyChua agrees.

"Korean media are almost like murderers," she wrote.
