Korean Netizens Divided Over Aespa Karina's Individual Teaser
On Tuesday, Nov. 10, SM Entertainment dropped Aespa member Karina's individual video teaser. She is the last member to have her teaser released. While the video piqued international fans' interest, it spurred divided opinions over Karina's abilities. Read more about it here.
In the almost two-minute-long teaser, Karina is seen along by herself in a dark blue room. The only other thing seen with her is a mirror illuminated with lights. Fans are first treated with Karina's visuals, and she subtly boasts her looks.
As she gazes into the mirror, she doesn't see her reflection across her--instead, an avatar or AI version of her.
As she shows off her swag and sexy dance moves in the video, her AI reflection does the same. Karina boasts amazing expressions as she dances, thus resulting in a marvelous performance. Many will find her passion for dancing her as she allows her body to synchronize with the music.
After the two dances, Karina reaches out for her avatar version through the mirror. AI Karina then enters through what appears to be a portal and greets Karina. Karina then asks what she thinks of the "place," to which AI Karina responds with "Not bad."

While most Korean netizens agreed that they found Karina pretty, they also thought her dancing looked unnatural. People complained that she seemed extremely awkward as she danced and looked stiff as she executed her moves. Others suggested that she might be better at a different style of dance. Additionally, some wondered why SM Entertainment pushed her to be a dancer when her skills are not there yet.

Karina had been an apple in the eye since she was introduced as an SM Entertainment trainee. Previously, someone claiming to be a friend of Karina leaked text messages she allegedly exchanged with the girl. In the texts, Karina is seen insulting her senior artists, such as EXO, NCT, and BTS. She was also accused of insulting EXO's Kai during a Hyundai commercial shoot. This spurred numerous rumors surrounding Karina, with some claiming she drank underage and bullied fellow trainees.

Her best friends and schoolmates released a statement to an online community forum, debunking all the fake rumors about Karina. They claimed that the text messages were fabricated and created to ruin Karina's reputation.
