DIA Confirms Comeback with Jung Chaeyeon

DIA announces comeback to the K-Pop scene with six members.

On Nov. 12, an exclusive media report state that DIA will be making a comeback with a new album in January next year. Member Jung Chaeyeon, who was on a temporary hiatus, is said to be participating in the group's upcoming release and would be showing a more mature side of her.

The new album will mark DIA's first comeback after almost seven months and as a six-member group. The female act's latest release is their sixth extended play titled "Flower 4 Seasons," which was out on June 10 this year.

The EP consists of six tracks, namely "Hug U," which serves as the album's title track, "Daily," "To You," "Nobody Knows," "Daily," and the instrumental version of "Hug U." DIA member Yebin took part in the lyric-writing process and composing of "Nobody Knows."

The launching of "Flower 4 Seasons" is the time when DIA was promoted as a quintet, without Chaeyeon and Somyi. DIA members shared in an interview that Jung Chaeyeon would be taking a break from group activities as she needed more personal time.

In 2015, Jung Chaeyeon was included in the final lineup of MBK Entertainment's upcoming girl group, along with Seunghee, Eunice, Cathy, Eunjin, Jenny, and Yebin. That same year, the girls debuted as DIA with their debut album titled "Do It Amazing," which was released on Sept. 14. It is composed of 11 tracks, including the lead single "Somehow."

In December 2015, Chaeyeon temporarily withdrew from the group to participate in the survival program Produce 101. In the show's finale, she took the No. 7 spot with a total of 215,338 votes and debuted as a member of the project group I.O.I in May 2016 with the debut extended play called "Chrysalis" featuring its title track "Dream Girls."

While she was part of I.O.I, Jung Chaeyeon also participate in DIA's comebacks and promotions from time to time. Besides being a K-Pop idol, she has also established herself as an actress. She made her acting debut with tvN's "Drinking Solo," which started airing from September to October 2016. Since then, she consistently became part of numerous drama, including "Reunited Worlds" and Marry Me Now."

Meanwhile, DIA, short for DIAMOND and a backronym "Do It Amazing," was initially composed of seven members when they made its debut in 2015. In particular, these members are Eunice, Huihyeon, Jenny, Yebin, Eunjin, Chaeyeon, and Seunghee.

In March 2016, Eunchae joined as a new DIA member, while Seungee departed from the group. DIA continued to release albums in the following year, and two new members were added, namely Somyi and Jueun. As a nine-member group, DIA launched its second studio album "YOLO" in April 2017 and its third mini-album "Love Generation" in August 2017.

In May 2018, Eunjin withdrew from the group due to her health problems. Then, in July 2019, Jenny left the group, also because of her health condition, specifically her knee injury. DIA currently has six active members.

Meanwhile, more details about DIA's comeback and new album next January are yet to be revealed, so stay tuned!
