Day6 Young K Becomes New DJ for KBS's 'Kiss the Radio'

Young K will be showcasing his skills as a radio host once more!KBS Cool FM has announced that Day6 Young K will be taking over as the DJ for the long-running radio show "Kiss the Radio" starting on the night of Nov. 23. The said program was previously hosted by former DJs Park Won, g.o.d's Danny Ahn, and FTISLAND's Lee Hong Ki, as well as Super Junior members Eunhyuk, Sungmin, Leeteuk, and Ryeowook.

Day6 Young K previously showed off his capability as a radio host when he was chosen as the DJ of MBC's "Idol Radio" last May, along with GOT7's Youngjae. "Idol Radio" concluded its first season this past September. Through this, Young K gained recognition for his impressive radio hosting performance."Day6's Kiss the Radio," with Young K acting as the new radio host, will begin its broadcast on Nov. 23 at 10:00 p.m. KST.

"Kiss the Radio" is a well-known South Korean radio show aired on KBS Cool FM. It started broadcasting in 2004 with Danny Ahn, best known as the main rapper of first-generation boy group g.o.d, as the very first DJ. The program generally has its focus on K-Pop. Hence hosts have been artists from famous idol groups.

Young K is a South Korean singer, songwriter, rapper, and musician. He acts as the vocalist, rapper, and bassist of K-Pop band Day6, which is formed under JYP Entertainment. The group made its debut in South Korea in September 2015 with the extended play titled "The Day," featuring its lead single "Congratulations." Young K, together with his fellow Day 6 members, took part in writing the lyrics and composing all the songs included in the EP.Then, in March 2018, the boy band debuted in Japan with its first Japanese track, "If (I Could See You Again)." And, once again, Day6 Young K participated in making the song as the lyricist, alongside his members Sungjin and Wonpil.

Young K expanded his activities as a singer when he was featured in the song "Shouldn't Have" of her fellow JYP artist, soloist Baek A Yeon. He was the one who wrote the rap part of the single, which was out in May 2015. "Shouldn't Have" became a hit, topping on numerous Korean music real-time charts a month following its launch.

That same year, he was also featured in the track "Sky High" of Korean indie musicians Park Sae Byul & Like Likes. And as a songwriter, Day6 Young K was the one who penned the rap lyrics of the song. In 2016, he was selected as the featuring artist for the single "Young해" of former 15& member Park Jimin.

Then, in 2019, he composed and contributed lyrics to the track "Hope," which is one of the songs included in the solo debut mini-album of B.A.P's Youngjae.On Aug. 31 of this year, Young K, together with his fellow Day6 members Wonpil and Dowoon, debuted as "Even of Day," the boy band's first sub-unit. The unit released its first extended play, "The Book of US: Gluon," featuring its lead single "Where the Sea Sleeps."
