CIX Cancels Upcoming Concert Due to Seoul's Upgraded Social Distancing Restrictions

CIX will not be greeting fans through a concert this year.

Last Nov. 10, CIX announced that they will hold their first concert called "2020 CIX 1st Concert "Rebel." A concert poster was posted on the group's official social media accounts. Since then, fans were excited for the band's concert after more than one year since its debut.

But then, on Nov. 24, a notice from C9 Entertainment was posted on the K-Pop boy group's official social media accounts. It stated that the "2020 CIX 1st Concert 'Rebel,'" which was scheduled to be held in Kyung Hee University Grand Peace Palace on Dec. 12 and 13, has been canceled.

The label said that they have been preparing for the said concert while following the government and local authorities' guidelines regarding the COVID-19 social distancing. However, they decided to cancel the event as there's a possibility for the third wave of coronavirus, and the social distancing level in Seoul and its metropolitan area was upgraded to level 2 on Nov. midnight KST.

C9 Entertainment aims to protect the health and safety of fans and artists, hence canceling the show was agreed on. The agency then apologized to the fans who have been waiting for CIX's very first concert 'Rebel.' Additionally, the company shared the details regarding the ticket cancellation and refund process.

This is not the first time that CIX's event was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Last Jan. 23, C9 Entertainment announced that the boy band will be having its first-ever online fan-meeting tour called "Hello, FIX." The boys were supposed to interact with their fans in South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and North America on Oct. 11. Unfortunately, the spread of coronavirus in central areas of Seoul was confirmed, hence the company was forced to call off the fan meeting.

In other news, CIX has just made a comeback in the music scene with their third extended play entitled "Hello Chapter 3: Hello, Strange Time" on October 27. The boy group was supposed to launch the EP last June 30, however, CIX's Bae Jinyoung had a slight ankle injury during a practice session, so the album release was postponed.

CIX's "Hello Chapter 3: Hello, Strange Time" is made up of five tracks that are titled "Move My Body," "Change Me," "Switch It Up," "Rebel," and "Jungle," which serves as the EP's title track. "Jungle" is described as a pop-dance track about not being able to escape from the person who appears to be someone's savior and being conquered by that person instead. A music video for the title track was also dropped on the day of CIX's comeback. As of Nov. 25, the MV has 23.2 million views.

Besides their return to the K-Pop scene, CIX also released their first Japanese single titled "Revival" on April 20. The group made its Japanese debut last Oct. 23, 2019, with the Japanese version of their first extended play "Hello Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger."
