Singer-Songwriter BUDY Fuses K-Pop and Soul in Her New Album "Fly High"

BUDY continues to carve her unique musical identity with her new single-album "Fly High," accompanied by a music video released December 3.

Exhibiting her strong pop, urban, and soul influences present in most of her works, BUDY returns with a message of hope and comfort right before 2020 ends. Her music video captures the same influences in its aesthetics - a dreamy, neon-lit evening sky paired with costumes and outfits that give off a feeling of familiarity and otherworldliness.

The MV opens with the Korean singer-songwriter in a building rooftop, with a large diffused lamp that looks like the moon. "Sun goes down... moonrise... It's getting dark little by little in this city," BUDY opens with her unique vocals. With BUDY's effortless belting at the chorus, the song's calming tune makes for perfect relaxing evening drives or drinks with friends. In all the artistry she managed to fit in between the song's lines, its message seems to be summarized in one: "Find warmth in the city under the night sky."

Together with her "Fly High" music video is a caption reportedly taken from "BUDY's working diary." In it, she describes how she got the idea for her latest single - sitting on a chair in her studio, turning her head, and looking up at the night sky. "After looking at the moonlight that lit up the night sky for a while, I thought I wanted to fly in the night sky. My new song, "Fly High," was composed at that moment."

She also shared her love for high places, adding that when she's in "someplace that is in the middle of the sky and the ground," her thoughts become clear, and she feels free from worries.

As for her music video, she wants to invite her fans into her "fantasy fairy tale" and "feel freedom" while they're in it. BUDY added: "I hope you feel free to fly in the night sky when you listen to this song 'Fly High.' And I hope you'll remember the happy moments in a fantastic mood. I wish everyone a happy 2021 by wrapping up 2020, which was hard."
