Lee Ho-Won Completes Military Service, Continues Career With a Stage Play Lead

Lee Ho-Won, the all-around performer also known as Hoya, will be returning to his career in music shortly after he finished his mandatory military service.

The former INFINITE member, solo artist, and actor is set to join the cast of the upcoming musical "Swag Age: Shout, Joseon!" This marks Hoya's first project after he completed his mandatory military service as a public service worker, being discharged last December 6. He first enlisted for his service on February 7, 2019, making the announcement two days prior through his SNS.

"Swag Age: Shout Joseon" is a musical set in a fictionalized version of Joseon, with the traditional poetic form "Sijo" taking center stage. In the play, Hoya plays the lead male role of "Dan," a free-spirited poet who dreams of changing the world.

The musical "Swag Age: Shout out, Joseon!" is set to open at the CJ Towol Theater of the Seoul Arts Center on January 5 and will be running up until February 29, 2021.

About Lee Ho-Won

Born Lee Ho-dong, Hoya or Lee Ho-won is a rapper, vocalist, dancer, songwriter, and actor first known as a member of the K-Pop boy group INFINITE since its 2010 debut. He also performed as a part of the subgroup INFINITE H, from 2013 until he left the talent agency Woollim Entertainment in 2017.

As a solo artist, he made his recording debut with the mini-album "Shower," released on March 28, 2018. Hoya has also appeared in a number of television dramas, stage plays, and films. His debut was in the tvN hit K-Drama "Reply 1997," followed by a starring role in SBS' musical romance series "My Lovely Girl," which also featured his INFINITE groupmate Kim Myung-soo.

Before his military enlistment, he has appeared in the MBC series "Two Cops" in 2017 and MBN's "Devilish Charm" in 2018. Hoya also served as a mentor and dance coach in the KBS variety show "Dancing High" which teaches Korean teens about dancing.

As a songwriter, Lee Ho-Won also received credits behind INFINITE songs "Last Romeo," "One Day," and "True Love," in addition to multiple tracks from his debut mini-album. Hoya is currently signed under the talent management company Glorious Entertainment.
