Golden Child Jaehyun Contracted COVID-19 But Remains Asymptomatic

Golden Child member Jaehyun is the latest name added to the list of K-Pop idols who contracted the COVID-19 recently. The "WANNABE" singer's agency, Woollim Entertainment, confirmed his diagnosis on Thursday, Dec. 17.

Jaehyun Tests Positive But is Asymptomatic

The label revealed, in its statement, that Jaehyun received the positive result just a few hours after he underwent testing. Woollim Entertainment assured the public that the Golden Child member had no other unimportant activities lately aside from his official filming schedules.

The agency noted that it had completed all the necessary measures following Jaehyun's diagnosis. Woolim Entertainment even shared that all of its staff and artists have undergone testing. The company even disinfected its building, including the Golden Child's official residence.

Choi Bo Min, Lee Jang Jun, Y, Hong Joo Chan, Lee Dae Yeol, Kim Ji Beom, Bae Seung Min, Park Jae Seok, Young Taek, and Kim Dong Hyun have reportedly, tested themselves immediately, regardless if they were Jaehyun's close contact or not. Woolim Entertainment then told avid followers of the group that updates would be given once they receive the test results of the other Golden Child members.

Jaehyun is the seventh K-Pop idol who tested positive for the COVID-19. Previously, Up10tion members Bitto, Kogyeol, and Xiao were confirmed to have been infected by the deadly coronavirus. Yiren and Shiyeon of Everglow, and Kim Chungha, also got positive results after they underwent testing.

As of late, South Korea has recorded a total of 46,453 COVID-19 cases already. More than 33,000 of it have recovered already, while there have been 634 mortality already. The United States has the most number of cases in the world, with 17 million total number of cases, followed by India (9.96 million), Brazil (7.04 million), and Russia (2.71 million), respectively.

Meanwhile, Golden Child was launched in 2017 with their first-ever EP called "Gol-Cha!" with the carrier single titled "DamDaDi." Just a month after the release of their debut album, the EP topped the Tower Records daily chart, the largest music site in Japan.

Golden Child successfully held their first solo concert called "Future and Past" in January. Just a few days after that, Bong Jaehyun, Choi Bo Min, Lee Jang Jun, Y, Hong Joo Chan, Lee Dae Yeol, Kim Ji Beom, Bae Seung Min, Park Jae Seok, Young Taek, and Kim Dong Hyun revealed a repackaged version of "Without You."

In March, Golden Child tried their luck when the group participated in the "Road to Kingdom" reality television show on Mnet. Unfortunately, the boys did not make it until they were eliminated from the show in its fifth episode.

Golden Child, then, made their comeback to the music scene by releasing their second album called "Pump It Up" on Oct. 7. The single album contained three songs, namely: "Pump It Up," "That Guy," and "Lean On Me." As of this writing, the EP has 75,484 total sales in South Korea alone.
