MAMAMOO's Moonbyul has recently added a new dog to her family. What makes this a big deal is that the K-pop idol has given the dog new hope and helps him have a fresh start.

On Dec. 20, a Korean dog shelter took to Instagram to share that MAMAMOO's Moonbyul has adopted a severely mistreated dog that has been under their care for a long time. This 4-year-old dog, originally named Harang, is said to be infected with heartworms and dirty when discovered and was notably abused. Harang was then cured and groomed, however, the shelter stated that they were concerned about the dog as it couldn't find a family to live with for a long time due to its health needs and age.

While the abandoned dog seems to have no chance of finding a family, MAMAMOO's Moonbyul came to the rescue. The Korean dog shelter posted a long message via Instagram together with a photo of Harang on a couch beside a Christmas tree. The shelter said that MAMAMOO's Moonbyul is the first family that the dog had. "This will truly change the dog's life. When we first talked to the person requesting to adopt Harang, we didn't know it was Moonbyul from MAMAMOO, and just thought she had such a good personality," the shelter shared.

"I hope you can take care of Harang well, and thank you for welcoming him into your family," the shelter added. After adopting Harang, MAMAMOO's Moonbyul can be spotted posting stories about the dog on her Instagram. And, it appears that the idol has renamed Harang to "Janggu."

MAMAMOO's Moonbyul is already known to be a dog owner, taking care of her three Welsh Corgis named Haengwoon, Kunkang, and Daebak. This past September, the idol participated in the recording of MBC's "2020 Idol Star Dog-agility Championships - Chuseok Special, together with other K-pop stars who also own dogs.

In other news, MAMAMOO's Moonbyul is celebrating her birthday today, Dec. 22. A photo of the idol was uploaded on the girl group's official social media accounts, and it shows Moonbyul wearing a party hat with the letter balloons that read, "Happy Birthday" displayed behind her. Besides the singer, her three adorable Welsh Corgis can also be seen in the picture.

While MAMAMOO's Moonbyul's is the one commemorating her birthday today, she will be the one to give fans a gift. On Dec. 22 at midnight KST, a teaser for a music video titled "Since It's Christmas (A Miracle 3 Days Ago)" was uploaded on the group's YouTube channel. The clip lasts for about 35 seconds and it shows the artist in a house that is fully-adorned with Christmas decorations, such as a Christmas tree and string lights.

The MV is scheduled to be released later at 8 p.m. KST. The music video for the single will be launched ahead of its official release, which was announced to be through Moonbyul's next album. Last year, the MAMAMOO member celebrated her birthday with the launch of her song titled "Snow."
