Let's Learn About V

Prior to becoming BTS's V, the idol was known simply as Kim Taehyung. He was born on Dec. 30, 1995, making him 25 years old this year. V was born in Daegu, South Korea, and was raised in the Geochang Country. Most casual fans probably do not know that V actually has siblings; they are three siblings, with V being the oldest. He has a younger brother and sister.

Though V has wanted to be a singer ever since he was in elementary school, he thought he would end up becoming a farmer, as he was born to a family of farmers. He was raised by his grandmother for more than half of his life, as his parents were busy working trying to provide for the family. The male only fully realized his dream after he began learning the saxophone in early middle school.

Now full wanting to pursue a career in singing, V started taking dance lessons as well, as he believed all singers should know how to dance too. In the ninth grade, he followed his friends to a Big Hit Entertainment audition and was scouted by a rookie development staff. After getting permission from his parents, he auditioned for the company and was the only person from Daegu to pass!

Three years later, he debuted as a member of BTS. Now, he is one of the biggest superstars in the world!

How are Fans Celebrating V's Birthday?

ARMYs have huge plans for V, ranging from streaming, cafe events, and even charitable acts!

BTS fans are planning to increase the number of streams for the BTS's solo songs. The fandom has goals for each platform. For Spotify, they will stream so that "Sweet Night" can reach 92 million streams, "Inner Child" for 67 million streams, "Singularity" for 143 million streams, and "Stigma" for 77 million streams.

On YouTube, they will stream his solo music for more views. Their goals are for "Sweet Night" to reach 55 million views, "Inner Child" to reach 25 million views, "Singularity" to reach 155 million views, and "Winter Bear" to reach 60 million views. On SoundCloud, they will listen to his music to reach a certain amount of streams. Their goals are for "Winter Bear" to reach 135 million streams and "Scenery" to reach 195 million views.

  V's Malaysian fanbase prepared a special charitable project title, "Winter Warmth for Syria." MY Purple V has made donations Pertubuhan Pedul Insan Malaysia under V's name to Winter Appeal for Syrian refugees. The fanbase donated winter relief items, such as winter clothes, prefabricated shelters, thermal blanks, and stoves. These will help families keep warm during the cold winter.

Fans from the Philippines are now holding a fan art contest to celebrate the idol's birthday. The contest is being held on Twitter, and any form of fan art is accepted. They will be determining the winners through 50% admin vote and 50% Twitter likes. The winners will earn cash prizes.

  In Jakarta, Indonesia, fans recently held a cafe event that will be held in Selawaktu Coffee. Fans of the idol can go to the cafe and, after purchasing a drink, can get two cupholders, three photo cards, and a sticker set. Those who had RSVP's to the event early earn extra goods, such as a tote bag, pop socket, and keychain.
