TWICE, BTS, EVERGLOW, & More: Australian Media Lists 'Tracks That Saved This Hellhole of a Year'

Which K-pop tracks made the unpleasant year somehow pleasant? The Australia-based media outlet Don't Bore Us-The Brag listed 10 songs that eased the hardships of 2020!

On Dec. 30, Don't Bore Us-The Brag posted an article, titled "10 K-pop tracks from 2020 that saved the hellhole of a year," which then highlighted the tracks that made this year bearable, despite unfortunate events that happened in the world, particularly the coronavirus.

Indeed, 2020 is a year that most K-pop fans and netizens wanted to end immediately, and just leave the difficulties everyone has faced in this year to start anew.

Nevertheless, the tracks that became people's companion in the setback that they experience will remain, as a reminder that "you did well" no matter how hard people went through.

Here's Don't Bore Us-The Brag's "10 K-pop Tracks That Saved 2020"

The songs were selected in no particular order, and Sunmi's "Pporappippam" was mentioned first. The media site talked about its refreshing and captivating tune, which revealed the ecstatic feeling when falling in love.

Next on the list is ACE's "Goblin (Favorite Boys)," which apparently became one of their breakthroughs this year as they dropped an exciting track that pulled listeners into their magical worlds.

The global K-pop group BTS, who made multiple achievements this year, also entered the list. Surprisingly, neither "Dynamite" nor "Life Goes On," which topped the US Billboard's "Hot 100," were selected. Instead, "Black Swan," a song created in the uncertainty, was chosen by the outlet. According to the site, the song is "an art you make in life became a burden on your shoulder."

As for the fourth track, Apink's "Dumhdurum" was selected due to how they gave listeners a reverse effect with the song. The title of the song means "Keep cool," but it surely made fans dance to its trumpet and exciting beat.

Moving on, the prominent K-pop groups from third generation K-pop, SEVENTEEN and TWICE, also secured a spot with their tracks "Left and Right" and "I Can't Stop Me."

Despite the pandemic, the two songs remind music enthusiasts that it's okay to celebrate the goodness and to rush over things that you know you shouldn't.

Meanwhile, this year also belongs to EVERGLOW and GFRIEND, who released "La Di Da" and "Mago," respectively.

The songs both uplift and celebrate modern women. "La Di Da" particularly give confidence to women while passing the message that they should not mind the haters and just dance against it, while "Mago" featured women doing things as they please, without minding those who doesn't understand them and showing their essence with a grand carnival-themed atmosphere.

Completing the list are LUCY's "Jogging" and Taemin's "Criminal." The two tracks may have different concepts and atmosphere, but both talked about youth: the former finding one's lost passion, while the latter talked about losing innocence. Taemin truly showed his artistry in his MV, lyrics and perfomance, highlighting how he resist with the tie in his hands -- going against power.
