Nominees for the 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards Revealed
Nominees for each category of the 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards have been unveiled!
On Jan. 5, the Gaon Music Awards website was updated, and nominated K-pop groups, and solo artists for the four categories were revealed. There will be 12 winners for the "Artist of the Year (Digital Music)" and four winners for the "Artist of the Year (Physical Album)." Meanwhile, there can only be one winner for the digital music and physical album classifications for the "Rookie of the Year."

The 12 winners for the "Artist of the Year" will be determined by evaluating the songs released from December 2019 to November 2020, with only one K-pop act winning each month. As for the physical album, the four winners will be chosen by quarter (first to fourth).

Red Velvet
Last December, it was announced that Super Junior's Leeteuk and ITZY's Lia will be the hosts of the 10th Gaon Chart Music Awards, which is scheduled to air on Jan. 13. This will be the two artists' second year in a row to serve as MCs for the said ceremony.
The Korea Music Content Association also shared that no performances will be done during the event as a preventative measure amid the COVID-19 pandemic. And, only a small number of people including the hosts will be allowed in the studio at the time of recording, and winners will give their acceptance speeches in a contact-free manner.
It was further reported that the lineup of attendees will not be disclosed due to the contract-free nature of the Gaon Chart Music Awards. Additionally, it is said that various other content will be provided as replacements for the idols' performances.
