BTS, BLACKPINK, and More: Idol Chart Reveals Their Annual Ahcha Rankings for 2020

On Thursday, Jan. 14, the Idol Chart revealed their annual Ahcha Rankings for the year 2020. As we enter 2021, let us take a look back into last year's top artist with Ahcha Rankings. Keep on reading to see who made their rankings.

Idol Chart's Ahcha Rankings evaluates a singer's popularity and how often they are mentioned in the media and by the general public. With that, each artist are given points and ranked by how high (or how low) their scores are.

Unsurprisingly, BTS topped the overall annual ranking in the Ahcha Ranking. With a score of 401,009 points, BTS proved their world-class popularity by ranking high in all categories of evaluations, such as records sold, music charts, broadcasting charts, keyword search ranking, and social media. They ranked second in terms of professional score.

BTS made headlines this year more than they ever have. In Feb. 2020, they dropped "Map of the Soul: 7", which ended up becoming the best-selling album in South Korean history. By April, they were named as the best-selling artist in South Korea after it was announced they accumulatively sold 20 million copies of albums.

In August, they released "Dynamite", their first all-English single. The song debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first time a South Korean act had a number-one hit single in the United States. In October, they hit number one again with their remix of Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo's "Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)".

In November, BTS dropped "BE" with the lead single "Life Goes On". The song debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their third number one hit single, achieving three number-one hits in three consecutive months. The song also marked the first time a predominantly Korean language hit number one in the States.

BLACKPINK, who are known as the "World's Biggest Girl Group" ranked second place after BTS with a total score of 246,058. BLACKPINK, who are loved worldwide for their charisma and stage presence, recently had their choreography video for "How You Like That" surpass 500 million views on YouTube.

Currently, BLACKPINK is preparing for their first live stream online concert, "THE SHOW", organized in partnership with YouTube Music. Originally scheduled for Dec. 27, 2020, it was rescheduled to Jan. 31, 2020 due to new coronavirus pandemic guidelines set in South Korea.

In third place, we have the "Nation's Little Sister" IU with 194,501 points. On Jan. 11, IU's label, Edam Entertainment, announced that she would be releasing a pre-release single on Jan. 27. Her label describes her now song as a cheerful pop song with an energetic vibe. Previously, IU made headlines for winning the Digital Daesang "Song of the Year" at the 25h Golden Disc Awards with "Blueming".

At fourth place, we have the new "Nation's Girl Group", TWICE, with 102,935 points. On Jan. 2, TWICE's song "CRY FOR ME" debuted at the top of the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart. The song also charted at number 122 on the Billboard Global Excluding the US chart, making it the group's third entry. TWICE released the song on Dec. 18, 2020 after performing it at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards on Dec. 6.

6. Oh My Girl - 95,634 points

7. IZ*ONE - 88,025 points

8. ITZY - 85,587 points
