TREASURE Attains Outstanding Cumulative Album Sales Just Five Months after Debut

YG Entertainment's rookie group TREASURE is sure to have left a huge impression on K-pop fans as the band managed to achieve impressive cumulative album sales. What makes this worth noting is that they reached this feat just five months after their debut.

According to YG Entertainment on Jan. 20, the total orders of TREASURE's new album titled "The First Step: Treasure Effect" has been revealed to be 282,845 copies as of Jan. 19. This is the group's first-week sales since the album's release on Jan. 12 and it is their highest first-week record so far compared to their previous sales with their first three single albums.

Combining all of their current sales, from "The First Step: Chapter" to "The First Step: Treasure Effect," TREASURE is revealed to have surpassed one million cumulative album sales only within five months of its debut, recording a meaningful milestone as a rookie group. Previously, it was unveiled that YG Entertainment's new boy group had exceeded 710,000 copies sold through their first three single albums just within three months since their debut. So far, this is the highest sales among all Korean acts that debuted in 2020.

TREASURE, which made its debut in August 2020, has first established its popularity in South Korea and Japan. Based on the list of countries to where the boy group's albums were shipped, South Korea and Japan each have 26% of the total sales. The other consumers came from Southeast Asian countries (20%), China (15%), Europe (8%), and the United States (3%). These only prove that the rookie group has made itself known beyond South Korea.

With TREASURE having four Japanese members, Mashiho, Yoshi, Haruto, and Asahi, there's no wonder why the rookie group instantly became famous in Japan. In fact, the band's first title track or debut single "Boy" found its global success in numerous countries including Japan where it claimed the top spot of several large music streaming platforms including Rakuten, Line Music, and AWA rising chart. Haruto took part in writing the lyrics along with Choi Hyun Suk.

The track also ranked first on iTunes Top Songs charts in at least nine different regions. For the third time, the rookie group's second comeback song, "MMM," came in at No. 1 on the two Japanese charts and iTunes chart around the world.

And recently, YG Entertainment's new boy group made a comeback with a new album titled "The First Step: Treasure Effect" that contains the title track "My Treasure." The song soared to the top of AWA's rising songs chart upon its release, while the B-side single "Going Crazy" hit No. 1 on Rakuten Music's real-time overall rankings.
