Kang Daniel in Talks to Make Acting Debut in Upcoming Disney+ Police Drama

Kang Daniel may be making his acting debut this year in an upcoming Disney+ drama!

According to an exclusive report from Iglan Sports, the male idol would be starring as the male lead in "Our Police Course." A source from the his self-established label KONNECT Entertainment shared with Star News that Kang Daniel has received an offer about taking a role of the protagonist in "Our Police Course" and is currently reviewing it.

Disney+'s "Our Police Course" to Tackle Lives of Police University Students

"Our Police Course" is a drama that presents the dreams, difficulties, and romantic life of youths at a police university. The story revolves around young adults born in the year 2000 who are making their way through college life in their own unregretful ways at one of the most conservative universities in Korea.

What Will be Kang Daniel's Role in Disney+'s "Our Police Course"?

In the upcoming drama, the male idol, if he says yes to the offer, will play the role of Wi Seung Hyun, the son of the Commissioner of the Gyeonggi Dongbu Police Agency and is an honors freshman who is just about to begin his college life at the Korean National Police University. He admires his father so much that he sets out on following his footsteps, so he ended up topping the entrance exam for the second time.

While he thought everything will go according to his plan, he runs into challenges when he unexpectedly meets a woman named Go Eun Gang.

In case Kang Daniel accepts the lead role, this would marking his official acting debut, as he previously turned down several offers to act in dramas before for the sake of his singing career. Meanwhile, Disney+ is not a Korean platform but they plan to produce Korean content. Studio New will be responsible for producing "Our Police Class." They are the one who worked on popular dramas such as "Descendants of the Sun," "Beauty Inside," and "Ms. Hammurabi."

Kang Daniel Set to Make His Return This February

While Kang Daniel is reviewing the role for the upcoming police drama, he is also preparing for his comeback, which is scheduled to be in February.

On Jan. 21, industry representatives reported that the solo artist is set to return this month. In response to the report, KONNECT Entertainment confirmed the news by saying that the idol will indeed getting ready for a comeback this month. They also shared that time that Kang is on the final stages of preparation.

The upcoming comeback will be his first after six months since the successful release of his mini-album "MAGENTA" in August 2020. With "MAGENTA," Kang was able to exceed one million cumulative albums sold within 13 months of debuting as a solo artist. The album's lead single "Who U Are" peaked at No. 12 in South Korea's music chart.

Kang Daniel's 2021 Activities So Far

Previously, Kang Daniel had his first collaboration with American artists, Inverness and Anthony Russo. They worked on a song titled "State of Wonder," which was launched by Monstercat on Jan. 15. Together with his preparations for his comeback, the male idol is also participating in a variety of content related to the new K-pop fandom app, UNIVERSE, including the app's "UNI-KON" concert on Feb. 14 and the new variety show "AGENT BLACKJACK K."
