BTS and BLACKPINK Pitted at 2021 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards + Break Music Chart Records

BTS and BLACKPINK are vying for trophies in the upcoming 2021 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. The award-giving body announced the complete list of nominees on Tuesday, Feb. 2.

BTS and BLACKPINK are both nominated in the Favorite Music Group category in the upcoming 2021 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

BTS and BLACKPINK Earn Nominations at the 2021 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

ARMYs and BLINKs were treated with some good news this week after Nickelodeon announced that BTS, composed of Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, Jungkook, Suga, V and RM, and BLACKPINK, composed of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé, are among the nominees of their prestigious awards show.

Both the global K-Pop acts are nominated in the Favorite Music Group category.

BTS and BLACKPINK will contest the trophy with other nominees, namely: OneRepublic, Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers and Black Eyed Peas. It can be recalled that BTS took home the said award in the 2020 ceremony.

"Dynamite" by BTS was also listed as one of the nominees for the Favorite Song category, along with "Yummy" by Justin Bieber, "Wonder" by Shawn Mendes, "Toosie Slide" by Drake, "Cardigan" by Taylor Swift and "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd.

"Ice Cream," which is the first collaboration of BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez, was also part of the Favorite Music Collaboration nominees list. BLACKPINK will also be competing with other popular musicians like Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande for "Rain on Me," Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber for "Stuck with U," Benny Blanco and Justin Bieber for "Lonely," Halsey and Marshmello for "Be Kind" and Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper for "Holy."

BTS was also nominated in the Favorite Global Music Star category. The septet (Asia) will also complete with Sebastian Yatra (Latin America), Savannah Clarke (Australia), Master KG (Africa), David Guetta (Europe) and Taylor Swift (North America).

In 2018, the South Korean boy band got the Favorite Global Music Star trophy.

BTS and BLACKPINK Continue to Dominate Music Charts

BTS and BLACKPINK remain two of the most listened music groups in the entire world up to this writing. As a matter of fact, BTS's "BE" album has spent a total of 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard World Album Chart already.

"Dynamite" by BTS was also No. 2 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Chart and No. 4 on the Billboard Global 200 Chart.

BLACKPINK, on the other hand, has spent a total of 17 weeks on the Billboard 200 Chart, which extends its record of being the longest charting Korean female act album on the said list.

The official YouTube channels of BLACKPINK members Lisa and Jennie have also garnered five million subscribers each. The two female K-Pop idols have been getting so much attention lately because of their stunning looks, exemplary dancing and singing skills and, of course, their fashion styles.

BLACKPINK also brought in more than 10 billion KRW in revenue with their most recent virtual concert "THE SHOW." The revenue cemented Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé online event as one of the highest-grossing virtual concerts in history.
