CL is the Only Female Musician Selected by Google for Their "Women's History Month 2021"

On Mar. 3, Google released a video titled "First of Many - Women's History Month 2021" on their official YouTube channel. This video signals the start of women's history month in the United States. It is meant to commemorate all the remarkable achievements made by women who have continued to break the glass ceiling.

The video celebrates women who have broken barriers for other women and celebrated all the milestones women have achieved. It also shows numerous women who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in various career paths, such as astronauts, Nobel Prize winners, scientists, rappers, businesswomen, athletes, and mountain climbers.

CL was mentioned in the famous female rappers section of the video. A clip from her music video "+HWA+," which was released last year, was included alongside footage of some of the world's most famous rappers, such as Sha Rock, Missy Elliot, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion.

CL took to Twitter and Instagram to thank Google for including her in this special video celebrating women. She included a the video to her post.

CL was first introduced to the public in 2008 when she appeared on Uhm Jung Hwa's song "DJ" as a featured rapper. She has since played a significant role in signaling the start of K-pop's golden age as the leader of the legendary girl group 2NE1.

The Korean soloist has also expanded her career to the United States, debuting in the West with her song "Lifted." CL is the first Korean female soloist to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 94 with the aforementioned song.

CL's Most Recent Activities

On Sept. 12, 2020, CL revealed that she was working on a new album that would be released later that year. Two days later, she released the music video for the song "Post Up," which was later revealed to be the intro song to her upcoming album. On Oct. 29, she released two singles, "5 Star" and "Hwa," which were both written by former YG Entertainment labelmate Tablo of Epik High. In conjunction with the two songs' release, CL revealed she would release her album "Alpha" on Nov. 30.

However, on Nov. 16, CL announced that she would be postponing her album, citing new ideas that came her way and her desire to release the album to its greatest potential. It is speculated that it will be released in early 2021. On Feb. 26, 2021, CL released the song "Wish You Were Here" as a tribute to her mother, Hong Yoo Ra, who passed away on Jan. 23 due to cardiac arrest. The song was released on CL's birthday.
