Music Duo Raffina & Cavi Returns with the 'Woo-Hoo Song'
The unique musical pair of Raffina & Cavi returns with a new single, "우후가 (Woo-Hoo Song)," released March 12.
After establishing a strong presence in the South Korean indie scene, Raffina & Cavi returns with another soothing song with retro elements reminiscent of the Korean city pop genre of the late 70s to the 80s. Released with a music video on the Stone Music Entertainment YouTube channel, the 3:41 clip features Raffina on vocals - a female illustrator, video artist, electronic music, and singer - together with songwriter, bassist, and back-up vocals Cavi.
Complete with the aesthetic blur, like taken from an old VHS camcorder, the MV features an animated footer showing a waterside barn, complete with cows, clouds, and other elements that add a unique feel to the retro video of the pair performing.
In a statement from Ruby Records, Raffina explains: "In a world that has become stranger than ever due to Corona, I wrote this song based on the idea of going to meet a cow."
Furthermore, the "Woo-Hoo Song" employs a sensual rhythm based on synthesizers, further pushing the retro feel, with multiple layers overlapping at certain points of the song - creating subtle nuances and completing that throwback appeal.
With the combination of different forms of art and music in a music video that showcases the duo's colors and abstract ideas, Raffina & Cavi are definitely set to keep fans curious and waiting as to what they will offer in the future - from the music, to all forms of aesthetics that would come with it.
The duo first made waves as an art-tainer pair with "Baby's Breath" last July, following it up with "Whale & I" and "Canvas Girl," coming across as a new artsy music act with leanings toward synthesizers and prominent bass lines to achieve an unusually relaxing vibe.
