BLACKPINK Named Spotify's Most Streamed Female Group this Decade + Becomes First Girl Band to Spend Half Year on Billboard 200 Chart

BLACKPINK continues to make waves in several platforms and music charts worldwide, proving their massive influence and popularity. On Tuesday, April 6, Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé made two more feats as a group. Keep on reading to know more details about the foursome's latest achievement.

BLACKPINK Breaks New Records on Spotify and Billboard Charts

Report shave it that BLACKPINK continues reigning supreme on Spotify. As a matter of fact, the YG Entertainment-formed group was named as the most streamed female group this decade on the popular online music streaming site after garnering more than 2.86 billion streams as of late.

BLACKPINK's songs also dominated the list of the longest charting female K-pop act songs of all time on Spotify Global Daily Chart, as of April 4, 2021. Among the tracks that appeared on the said tally are "How You Like That," "Kiss and Make Up" with Dua Lipa, "Kill This Love," "Ice Cream" with Selena Gomez, "Lovesick Girls," "SOLO" by BLACKPINK Jennie, "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Sour Candy" with Lady Gaga and "Pretty Savage."

Not only that because BLACKPINK was also the first girl group to ever spent half a year or a total of six months on the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart. Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé broke the record of Fifth Harmony in 2016.

If that is not enough, "The Album" by BLACKPINK was also recorded as the longest-running album by a female K-pop act on the Billboard 200 Chart. The said EP has been reappearing on the said tally for 26 weeks already. "Kill This Love," also by BLACKPINK, came in second spot for charting for a total of four weeks.

As of this writing, "The Album" by BLACKPINK has accumulated more than 1,333,657,914 streams on Spotify. The "Kill This Love" album, on the other hand, has a total of 768,668,226 streams.

BLACKPINK Ranks High on Billboard World Albums Chart

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK dominated the Billboard World Album Chart with "The Album." The said EP of Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé, which is the girl group's first full-length album, remained at the No. 3 spot in its 25th week on the said tally.

Of course, BTS had the most entries on the said list. The group landed seven albums in the Top 15 for the week ending on April 3. "BE" nabbed the No. 1 spot, followed by "Map of the Soul:7," "Love Yourself: Tear" and "Love Yourself: Her" in No. 2, No. 6 and No. 7 spots, respectively. "Map of the Soul: Persona" and "Skool Luv Affair" secured the No. 11 and No. 13 spots as well.

Other K-pop groups that made it to the list, aside from BLACKPINK and BTS, include NCT for the "RESONANCE Pt.1" album, TXT for their Japanese album titled "Still Dreaming," SuperM for their first full-length album called "Super One" and ATEEZ for their latest mini album titled "ZERO: FEVER Part 2." With this line-up, it goes to show that K-pop music has attracted more and more people around the globe.
