Filipino Former Beauty Queen Insinuates BTS Relied on Plastic Surgery for Success, Are Gay & Creepy

On May 2, Philippine local time, Imelda Schweighart, a German-Filipino former beauty queen turned singer who was crowned as Miss Earth Philippines in 2016, recently took to her Facebook account to share her thoughts on global superstars, BTS.

In a now viral post, Imelda Schweighart shares that her boyfriend made her watch a BTS video for the first time. Upon watching the video, she reveals that she only thought one member of the group was handsome, and insinuates that BTS had plastic surgery. "But there clearly is talent.. but aesthetically pleasing in the face, and skin? Would have they made it without glutathione and rhinoplasty?" said the former beauty queen.

She also asked rhetorically if BTS is a mix of LGBTQ and "real men."

Imelda Schweighart does say that BTS have talent, are good at projecting, and have a big budget; however, she does not understand the hype being given to the K-Pop group. "Can never be in a kpop fan's shoe to understand the depth of their adoration. It's like watching Michael Jackson in clones. Is it creepy? The hype is creepy," Imelda Schweighart adds.

In addition, Imelda Schweighart voices her concern if the hype is psychologically safe for the next generation to be "brainwashed" with and would be discussing the topic in a podcast.

ARMY, BTS' fandom, has swarmed to condemn Imelda Schweighart on various social media platforms. Many have said that the beauty queen, who went on to become a singer, had no right to criticize BTS and their music as her own songs are terrible. In addition, she was also condemned for being racist, xenophobic, disrespectful, and only using BTS for clout.

Imelda Schweighart: "I hate K-pop"

In 2020, Imelda Schweighart posted on her Facebook page, "I hate K-pop," which subsequently garnered backlash from the K-Pop community. She went on to explain her reason, saying that coming from a family full of musicians, Filipinos are losing their identities and should stop "trying to be Koreans," and went on to say that Filipinos speak better English than them.

She adds that it's easy to support people who are backed up by big corporations, but for her, it's more fulfilling if the fan discovers an artist on their own. In addition, she says that kids these days are unaware that they are shaping their lives or morphing their brains into believing a "lie," commenting on K-Pop idols' slim bodies and plastic surgery.

Ending her reasoning, Imelda Schweighart said that people listen to K-Pop and watch K-Dramas because they don't have variety and don't honor creativity.
