CL Dropped Out of High School When She Was a Trainee -- Here's Why

On the May 19 episode of tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," 2NE1's former leader and rapper, CL, made a guest appearance on the variety show.

During an interview with the show's production crew, CL was asked about her trainee days at YG Entertainment and prior to her debut as one of the best K-Pop groups from the second generation.

Once she gets home, she would head to sleep between three to four in the morning. That gives her roughly four hours of sleep every day, and CL did that for an entire year.

After going through that for a year, CL said that she started to think, "Wouldn't it be better for me to use my time to focus on one thing?" After thinking about that question carefully, she decided it would be best for her to just quit school and focus on practicing.

CL dropped out of high school when she was just a sophomore at high school, she added.

When she told her father about her decision to drop out during a car ride heading somewhere, her father took the news quite well. He immediately said "okay" and told CL to do whatever she wanted. "He never said "no" to me, ever," said CL.

When CL asked her father why he didn't ask for an explanation or said anything else, she said that her father felt that he shouldn't ask "why" because he felt that CL had given the decision a lot of thought already before she asked him.
