BTS Scores New Major Billboard Milestones as "Butter" Takes No. 1 on Hot 100

On June 1 (local time), Billboard officially announces that BTS's "Butter" has claimed the No. 1 spot on the famous Hot 100 chart dated June 5. This weekly chart ranks the most popular tracks in the United States.

"Butter" is now BTS's fourth song to reach the top of Billboard Hot 100.

The septet's first English-language song "Dynamite," released in August last year, earned them the title of the first Korean act to secure the No. 1 position on Hot 100.

BTS's "Dynamite" held its place at No. 1 for a total of three weeks and charted on Billboard Hot 100 for 32 weeks.

Another BTS song that soared to the top spot of Hot 100 is "Life Goes On," the title track of their latest album "BE." This is the very first Korean song to debut atop the said Billboard chart.

Following "Dynamite" and "Life Goes On" is "Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat), the remix of Jason Derulo and Jawsh 685 featuring BTS.

As "Dynamite," "Life Goes On," and "Butter" all reached the No. 1 spot on the chart, BTS is now the first group in history to have three songs debut at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100.

According to Billboard, no other group entered the chart more than once. There are only solo artists to do so, and they are Ariana Grande (5), Justin Bieber (4), and Drake (4).

What's more, BTS only took nine months to attain their first four No. 1s on the Hot 100 chart. This makes the boy group the fastest artist to do so since Justin Timberlake in 2006-2007. Among groups, BTS is the fastest to land four songs atop the Billboard chart in 51 years since Jackson 5 in 1970.

According to MRC Data (formerly called Nielsen Music), BTS's "Butter" recorded 32.2 million streams in the United States and sold 242,800 downloads in the week of May 21 to 27. The single also gained 18.1 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week of May 24 to 30.

BTS's "Butter" Ranks No. 1 on More Billboard Charts

In addition to Hot 100, BTS's "Butter" swept more Billboard charts for the week ending on June 5.

"Butter" by RM, Jungkook, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jin ranked first on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart (which tallies digital sales in the US). This makes the septet the very first group in history to debut at No. 1 on the chart with seven different songs.

BTS's "Butter" also landed atop Billboard's Global 200 and Global Excl. US charts. Other than this, the boy group recorded the highest streams for any song since the debut of these two charts. "Butter" hit 289 million streams, breaking their record of 152.5 million streams set by "Life Goes On."

"Butter" even entered at No. 4 on the Streaming Songs chart and No. 39 on the Radio Songs chart. This is their highest debut on the latter chart, surpassing "Dynamite" (which debuted at No. 49 and peaked at No. 10 last year).
