GOT7 Jay B Shares His Experience Working with Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone for His Solo Single 'Switch It Up'

GOT7 Jay B Reveals What It Was Like to Work with Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone for "Switch It Up"

On May 14, Jay B (formerly JB) of GOT7 released his first official solo single, entitled "Switch It Up," under his new agency, H1GHR MUSIC, which Jay Park owns.

This song is not only his first solo release after leaving JYP Entertainment in January but also his first-ever solo track in nine years since he made his first debut in the duo JJ Project with Jinyoung, who later re-debuted with him in GOT7 with five more members.

Jay B co-composed "Switch It Up" with Cha Cha Malone and Jay Park. He also wrote the lyrics for the single with Jay Park and sokodomo.

In a recent interview with Mediacorp 987, GOT7 Jay B was asked to share his experience teaming up with Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone to produce his first solo single, "Switch It Up."

GOT7's leader unveiled that he felt very nervous on the first day he worked with them since it was his first time collaborating with Park and Malone.

Despite this, Jay B said that he had an enjoyable time working and talking with Cha Cha Malone.

GOT7 Jay B also shared that Jay Park made him feel very comfortable as he would always ask him for his opinions and what he would like to do.

Jay B continued that Jay Park made him feel like he can work well in that type of setting.

GOT7 Jay B also confessed during the interview with Mediacorp 987 that he felt worried and nervous to release "Switch It Up."

He stated that his worries were not because of the song but the fact that he is one of the earliest to release new music just a few months after leaving JYP Entertainment.

Jay B added that he felt nervous because "Switch It Up" will mark his first appearance and a solo artist.

He also said that he was worried if the single would be too bold since it has a different feel from the previous works he did with GOT7.

GOT7 Jay B Becomes the First K-pop Solo Act to Debut on Billboard R&B Digital Song Sales Chart

A few weeks after Jay B's "Switch It Up" was released, the single landed on two Billboard charts for the week ending on May 29.

"Switch It Up" entered at No. 6 on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, making GOT7 Jay B the first Korean solo artist to debut on this weekly ranking.

GOT7 Jay B's "Switch It Up" also made it to the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, securing the No. 18 spot. He is the third K-pop soloist to enter this chart.
