In the awarding ceremony, SEVENTEEN was hailed as 2021's Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism awardee. This award is considered as daesang (the highest prize), which is given to the Hallyu star that contributed the most to the spread of K-pop and Korean culture around the world.

SEVENTEEN, who is known to be one of the leading groups of the Korean wave, sold more than 1 million albums with their latest release, "Your Choice," making them quadruple million-sellers.

Upon receiving the award, the K-pop leaders conveyed their grateful hearts, saying, "It is a great honor to receive such a meaningful award. As we received a valuable award, we will try to promote the Korean Wave more in the future."

They added, "We will try to be a SEVENTEEN that can have a good influence on many people. Lastly, we hope that the Hallyu Expo will thrive further."

LOONA particularly rose globally with their third mini-album "Midnight (12:00)" released in October last year. The release ranked 112th on Billboard's main album chart "Billboard 200" — proof of how they break the U.S. market.

In the ceremony, LOONA said, "Thank you. We will try to promote K-pop widely."
