aespa Giselle Caught Lip Syncing a Racial Slur in Behind-the-Scenes Video

Back on October 23, SM Entertainment shared a behind-the-scenes video of aespa during their jacket shoot for their recent release, "Savage," through the group's Youtube channel.

However, what caught fans' attention during the video was when Giselle, Karina and Ningning were listening and jamming to one of SZA's songs, "Love Galore."

In particular, while the three members were having fun, Giselle was seen lip syncing to the song's lyrics, which included a racial slur.

Since then, a clip of that particular moment quickly made its rounds across various social media platforms, with many criticizing the aespa member, especially as Giselle is a fluent English speaker.

While other fans have come to Giselle's defense, saying that the "Savage" singer was genuinely enjoying the song that she forgot about racial slur, or that she didn't realize it was the the n-word due to SZA's pronunciation.

Two days after the issue arose, Giselle took to aespa's official Twitter account to release an official apology on October 25 KST.

On Twitter, Giselle wrote:

"Hello, this is GISELLE.

I would like to apologize for mouthing the wrongful word from the lyrics of the song that was playing on-site. I had no intentions of doing it with any purpose and got carried away when one of my favorite artist's song was played. I sincerely apologize.

I will continue to learn and be more conscious of my actions."

Following Giselle's apology, many fans thanked the aespa member for owning up to her mistake, while also leaving numerous words of support to the group's rapper.
