Why is 'EXO IS NINE' Trending Again? Here's the Reason
Over Twitter, phrases "EXO IS NINE" and "WE ARE ONE" appeared on EXO's related searches, immediately drawing the attention of K-pop fans. On top of that, both keywords trended once again on the social media platform. Here's why.
On October 29, EXO-Ls casually searching EXO-related searches on Twitter expressed their curiosity as to why the phrases "EXO IS NINE" and "WE ARE ONE" trended on the social media channel once again.
As a result, fans explained that the phrases trended for two reasons; a good and a bad one.
Here's the Reason Why 'WE ARE ONE' Trends on Twitter
For those who are not aware of the phrase, "WE ARE ONE" is EXO's slogan, which means that the members are one with its fandom, EXO-Ls.
To explain, EXO is initially comprised of two sub-units, EXO-K and EXO-M. The letter "L," which means "Love," and in between of letters "K" and "M" is represented by the fans. With a mutual understanding between EXO and fans, EXO-K+EXO-L+EXO-M= One.
On the 28th, the slogan then rose in Twitter's trending list as EXO officially advanced from the second round for 2021's AAA "Popularity Award" voting in the male category.
With the fandom's hard work, EXO closed the round with approximately 4 million votes, the only male group among the other candidates to do so. They will be battling against NCT Dream and Stray Kids to secure the spot.
As a response, "WE ARE ONE" was trended by EXO-Ls to commemorate the incredible feat, conveying how proud they are of their co-fandom and EXO.

'EXO IS NINE' Also Trends on Twitter... But Why?
While the other half of the fandom celebrates the huge achievement, some fans expressed their anger at some fans who are throwing hate against other EXO members.
Apparently, some Korean EXO-Ls (Kerries) is found out to be OT6, who support members excluding Chanyeol, Chen, and Lay.
On Twitter, a space was created wherein OT6 fans joined in badmouthing the members.
Due to frustration, OT9 EXO-Ls who support all nine members used the phrase "EXO IS NINE" as a counterattack to the haters.
Meanwhile, the division within the fandom has been an unsolved problem between EXO-Ls, due to some fans who hate other members due to various reasons.
However, EXO amidst the issue consistently expressed their desire to continue promoting will all nine members, proving their love to each other.
"SM Entertainment and EXO members themselves confirmed that there would be no changes in their lineup, and EXO will remain as a nine-membered group," the agency stated during Chen's marriage and premarital pregnancy controversy.
In addition to this, Lay also attested his love for EXO in a past interview.
"I'm always proud of my bros, I think I really love my brothers so to see their success is amazing and I am always here, I'm always there for them," Lay told MYX Philippines.
