BTS Becomes the Most-Awarded Artist With 4 Wins at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards

BTS Sweeps Awards at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards
On November 14 local time, the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (hereafter referred to as EMA) was held in Budapest, Hungary and hosted by American rapper Saweetie. Among all the winners, however, BTS stood out the most as they emerged as the artist who took home the most wins at this year's awards ceremony.
The seven-member boy group won Best Pop, beating out top contenders Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, and Olivia Rodrigo.
They also took home the trophy for Best Group, with Little Mix, Jonas Brothers, Imagine Dragons, Måneskin, and Silk Sonic being the groups BTS went up against.
K-Pop also has its own category at the music awards, and BTS won Best K-Pop after a close battle with fellow Korean artists MONSTA X, NCT 127, TWICE, and BLACKPINK's Lisa and Rosé.
Lastly, BTS was also nominated in the Biggest Fans category, alongside big stars such as Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and BLACKPINK. BTS also took home this award.
This isn't the first time BTS have been nominated and won at the MTV EMA.

Just last year, BTS brought home the Best Korean Act award, which has since then been changed and is similar to the Best K-Pop award.
BTS also won the Best Pop category for their hit English single "Dynamite" in 2020, where they also took home four wins. This year, the music awards decided to forgo nominating an artist for a specific song.
In addition, BTS had also won Biggest Fans and Best Group in the past.
Meanwhile, BTS first received a nomination at the MTV EMA back in 2014. Only in 2015 were they able to win their first award, where they won Best Korean Act and received a nomination for Best Asian Act.
Since then, BTS has managed to win at least one award every year, totaling their wins from the awards show to 14.

Another awards ceremony to look forward to is the 2021 American Music Awards (hereafter referred to as AMAs)
This year, BTS will be taking center stage to perform the remix of their 2021 hit summer release and second English single, "Butter," alongside American rapper Megan Thee Stallion in what will be a highly-anticipated performance between the two.

Aside from the performance, BTS also snagged three nominations at the AMAs; being a contender for Favorite Pop Duo/Group, Favorite Pop for "Butter," and for the first time at the awards show, BTS is nominated for Artist of the Year.
The 2021 AMAs will be held in Los Angeles on November 21 at 8pm ET/PT.
