For their 17th anniversary, South Korean media outlet Joy News 24 released their survey results to determine who the most popular K-pop rookies of 2021 are. Keep on reading for all the details.
South Korean media outlet Joy News 24 held a survey about K-drama, K-movies, actors, singers, and variety shows that performed the best in 2021 to celebrate their 17th anniversary. The survey was conducted from October 12 to 19.
Two hundred industry professionals, including employees of entertainment companies and broadcast companies, film and broadcast producers, and entertainment reporters, took part in the survey.
aespa named 'Rookies of the Year' by Korean Media Outlet
Ranking in the first place is aespa, who received 117 votes from industry professionals. aespa debuted in November 2020 and gained popularity in May 2021 with the release of "Next Level," which continues to chart to this day.
On October 5, 2021, aespa released their first mini-album, "Savage," which ranked first on all major domestic digital and album charts.

"Savage" also ranked at number 20 on the Billboard Global 200, while aespa ranked in 20th place on the Artist 100 Chart. On the World Album and Independent Albums Chart, "Savage" ranked at the top of the charts. Meanwhile, the album ranked at number four on the Tastemaker Albums Chart.

The song "Savage" ranked at number 39 on the Billboard Global 200 and 13 on the World Digital Song Sales Chart.
aespa was also named "the most anticipated singers in the late 2021 or 2022" with 45 votes from industry professionals. aespa's songs "Next Level" and "Savage" were also named as one of the most popular songs for 2021.
