HYBE CBO Min Hee Jin Promises to be Careful Regarding Cultural Appropriation to Prevent Issues with Upcoming Girl Group

For the past years, there have been numerous instances wherein K-Pop idols or groups have been accused of committing cultural appropriation and became subject to heavy controversy. So, it's no wonder some are stepping up to prevent such from happening to their favorite group.

Recently on December 4, a Twitter user shared a conversation they had with Min Hee Jin, HYBE's Chief Branding Officer (CBO) and current CEO to its sub-label, ADOR, through Instagram.

According to them, who is already a fan of ADOR's upcoming girl group, they had asked Min Hee Jin if they could send the ADOR CEO information regarding cultural appropriation in order to prevent any issues happening to the group in the future, to which Min Hee Jin had gladly accepted so that they can refer to the information.

Based on the post, they had mentioned racial slurs and the cultural appropriation of cultures from Southwest Asian countries.

Min Hee Jin responded by saying that they will study the information and be careful of such in the future. "Thank you for the good information. This is something we also consider very important. We will try to study it and be careful [in the future]. Thank you," Min Hee Jin said.

In other news, Min Hee Jin is the former creative director and board member of SM Entertainment, who led numerous concepts for groups such as Girls' Generation, Red Velvet, f(x), EXO, SHINee, and more.

Following her departure from SM Entertainment after almost two decades with the label, she joined HYBE in 2019 as the CBO, and was later named as the CEO of ADOR in 2019, who will be in-charge of debuting HYBE's new girl group.

Min Hee Jin Reveals Debut Song of ADOR's Upcoming Girl Group Was Already Decided

Back on December 1, Min Hee Jin was featured as a guest on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," where she gave more details regarding the highly-anticipated upcoming girl group.

During the show, Min Hee Jin revealed that she is preparing the group well, and that the girl group's debut song had already been decided long before. "I am preparing to debut a new girl group with a lot of confidence. I already had the group's debut song in mind since two years ago," Min Hee Jin said.

She then shares what she hopes for the new group, saying, "I definitely expect that the group will be taking things o a new and whole different level. I hope to be able to present the group as soon as possible sometime within next year."
