Former BTOB Ilhoon Uploads Handwritten Apology Letter on Instagram, Peniel Liked Idol's Post
Jung Ilhoon, a former member of the group BTOB who was arrested on charges of habitual smoking of marijuana personally, apologized to netizens, particularly his supporters. Recently, the male idol who was sentenced to two years in prison was released after being sentenced to a 3-year probation period during his second trial.
Ilhoon Expresses Regret and Apologizes for Hurting His Fans, Avows to Become a Better Person
On the 24th, K-pop idol and ex-BTOB Ilhoon released his handwritten apology letter on his personal Instagram. In the apology letter, Jung Ilhoon penned his inner feelings to his fans, particularly to Melody (fandom of BTOB).
"Hello, I'm Jung Ilhoon. I have been able to reflect on my life during the investigation, trial, and the time I was imprisoned for the past few years. I'm so sorry to apologize too late to those who loved me, but I'm writing with my heart," Jung started.
"Regardless of the reason, I think I deserve the criticism, that my actions which violated the law could not be justified with any words," admitting to his mistakes.

In addition to this, the male idol also conveyed his regrets, "I'm so sorry that my mistake wounded your hearts deeply. I regret that the love and memories I could provide you and vice versa have been tainted by my own fault, and I'm ashamed of it myself."
He further stated that he will live properly in the future, and do his best not to hurt anyone. Ilhoon emphasized his desire to change, especially after losing precious people around him.
Lastly, he relayed his sincere gratitude to those who patiently waited for his official position regarding the case. "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who have waited for my position for a long time.[...] I'm truly sorry."
BTOB Peniel Likes Former Co-Member's Post But Eventually Unlikes It
After Ilhoon posted his apology statement, Peniel, his friend and former co- BTOB member liked his post.
As soon as Melody noticed it, the keywords "btob," "peniel" and "ilhoon" immediately trended on sns particularly on Twitter, fans conveying how happy they were for the gift that they received from the idols.
However, Peniel eventually unliked the post, after apparently receiving mixed reactions from some internet users. Nevertheless, Melody expressed how precious that moment was for them.
On the other hand, Jung Ilhoon along with Peniel debuted as BTOB in 2012 and received a lot of love from fans. In December 2020, Ilhoon withdrew from the group after it was revealed that he was being investigated for habitual smoking of marijuana from 2016 to 2019.
