BTS V's "Christmas Tree" Joins PSY's "Gentleman" as the Longest-Running Korean Solo Song at No. 1 on Worldwide iTunes Song Chart
On Dec. 24 at 6 p.m. KST, BTS member V released the song "Christmas Tree," which will serve as the fifth OST for the new SBS drama "Our Beloved Summer." The song set and broke several records following its release.
One of these records is the longest time to stay in first place on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart. Since the day of its release, BTS V's "Christmas Tree" stayed strong at No. 1 up to the latest tally dated Dec. 27.

The "Our Beloved Summer" OST by V is the first song by a Korean soloist to spend four days atop the worldwide iTunes in eight years since "Gentleman" by PSY in 2013. Additionally, "Christmas Tree" becomes Taehyung's (V's real name) longest-running song at No. 1 on the global chart.
Attention is now focused on whether BTS V's new OST will record five days or more atop the worldwide iTunes and eventually become the longest-running K-pop solo song at No. 1 in history.
The original soundtrack has obtained more feats on other iTunes charts aside from this. In particular, BTS V's "Christmas Tree" has become the longest-running OST at No. 1 on the European iTunes chart, dominating the tally for two consecutive days.

BTS member V is the first and only Asian artist to take first place on both the worldwide iTunes and European iTunes charts at the same time.
Further, V has become the first and only K-pop solo artist in history to simultaneously debut at No. 1 on the US iTunes chart with two OSTs or solo songs ("Sweet Night" and "Christmas Tree"). Not to mention, he dethroned Mariah Carey in first place on the US and worldwide iTunes charts.

He is also the only BTS member to reach No. 1 on both the US and UK iTunes charts with two songs, "Christmas Tree" and "Sweet Night."
After its release on Dec. 24, BTS V's "Christmas Tree" is the fastest song in iTunes history to top charts in 50 countries, doing so in only two hours. Currently, it is dominating in 85 countries, including the US, UK, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, and more.

BTS V's "Christmas Tree" Attains the Highest Debut Streams on Global Spotify for a Korean OST
In related news, BTS V's new OST achieved a historic feat on the global Spotify chart in terms of streams.
Despite competing with popular Christmas songs, the "Our Beloved Summer" OST broke the record for the highest debut streams for a Korean OST with 1.46 million streams with a partial day of tracking (15 hours).
In South Korea, BTS V's "Christmas Tree" was also well received. As of 9 a.m. KST, the soundtrack is charting at No. 2 on Bugs, No. 30 on MelOn's Top 100, No. 48 on Genie, and No. 54 on FLO.
