TVXQ Changmin Announces First Solo Comeback in Two Years with New Album

On December 28, KST, it was reported that TVXQ's Changmin is making a solo comeback. His label SM Entertainment later confirmed with Xsports News, stating that Changmin is planning to release a new solo album in January of next year, and asks for the public's interest.

They also confirmed that preparations for his comeback are in full swing, and many are anticipating as to what kind of music and performances the veteran K-Pop idol will show the world.

Changmin's upcoming album release would mark his first solo comeback in about a year and nine months, since the release of his debut mini-album "Chocolate," which was released back in April 2020 and was his first release as a solo artist following his debut in the industry almost 18 years ago.

"Chocolate" featured a total of six songs, including its title track of the same name, "High Heels," "Lie" which features Chungha, "Piano," "Me, Myself & I," and "No Tomorrow."

The album incorporated various genres such as pop, dance-pop, folk-rock, and R&B, and was produced by Yoo Young Jin, Thomas Troelsen, Hitimpulse, Jake Torrey, and more.

At that time, "Chocolate" had also seen success both domestically and internationally, such as ranking within the spot at No. 2 on the weekly album chart on Gaon Chart. It also peaked at No. 3 on Japan's Oricon digital album chart, and charted in over 11 different regions and countries aroud the world on iTunes Top Albums Chart.

TVXQ Changmin's Latest Activities

Back in 2020, Changmin release his mini-album "Chocolate" and his first Japanese mini-album "Close to You," which included seven songs. He also participated in the fourth season of SM Station with the song "All That Love."

In the same year, Changmin announced his marriage to his non-celebrity girlfriend, and had a private wedding ceremony in October.

This year, Changmin has hosted a number of variety shows, such as Mnet's "Kingdom: Legendary War," Naver NOW's "Free Hugs," Channel S' "Along with the Gods 2," and JTBC's "Bistro Shigor."

He also became a cast member alongside fellow TVXQ member Yunho for the web show "Book This Out" this year.

Changmin also recently released his second Japanese mini-album "Human" back in December 8.

He is also set to appear at SMTOWN's free online concert "SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @KWANGYA," which will be held on January 1 next year. to be held on January 1 next year.
