Yoo Sae Yoon Loses License, 'Knee Drop Guru' Gig After Turning Himself In For A DUI: 'Barefoot Friends' and 'SNL Korea' Keep Him In The Cast

South Korean comedian and rapper Yoo Sae Yoon may have lost his license as a result of turning himself into police for driving drunk, but he hasn't lost his television gigs, not all of them anyway.

Ilsan police booked Yoo, who is one half of the band UV, on May 29, after he turned himself in with a blood alcohol level of 0.117 percent, according to the website Soompi.

Local authorities said they had never seen anything like it.

"There was no accident due to the DUI," an Ilsan police spokesperson announced Thursday, following an investigation.

"Yoo Sae Yoon felt guilty and that is why he turned himself in. This is the first time that somebody turned himself in after drunk driving."

In South Korea, if a motorist's blood alcohol is above .10, their license is permanently revoked.

Two days later, the star took to Twitter to apologize to fans.

"I am sorry," Yoo wrote.

"I gave a huge disappointment to all the people that love me. The incident happened impulsively because I had a lot of stress."

The incident caused the comedian to be fired from the program "Knee Drop Guru."

The producers of "Saturday Night Live Korea" and "Barefoot Friends" have agreed to keep Yoo Sae Yoon on as a cast member, at least for now.

Yet comments the star made nearly a year ago, at a press conference last June have caused some observers to speculate if Yoo manufactured the controversy himself to escape from the limelight.

"I don't think being a celebrity suits me," Yoo famously said.

"I really don't want to be a celebrity but because of my three-year contract with my agency, I have to work hard."

To add fuel to the conspiracy theory fire, StarToday reported last week that the star had a designated driver take him from Seoul to Ilsan's MBC Dream Center.

From the Dream Center, Yoo Sae Yoon reportedly drove himself to the police station where he turned himself in.

Yoo appeared at the Kyeongki-do Goyangkyung police station at 4 a.m., where he claimed to have driven from Seoul to Ilsan early that morning, a journey of over 18 miles, according to police.

"I came because I felt guilty," Yoo told police after turning himself in, according to the South Korean publication eNews.

After being charged, the rapper was sent home, according to local authorities.

"Yoo Se Yoon was booked without detention for violating traffic laws," the Ilsan Police spokesperson said.

"His license will be revoked according to the law."
