On Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. KST, NCT Mark's solo song "Child" was officially released as the first part of SM STATION's "NCT LAB" project. This hip-hop song features electric guitar sounds and a unique bass synth.

Mark was directly involved in the creation of "Child." Besides joining in the composition, he also took part in writing the lyrics for the song. The lyrics share the idol's sincere thoughts as he makes self-reflection.

Shortly after its release, Mark's "Child" quickly landed on several major domestic real-time charts. It debuted at No. 1 on Bugs, No. 12 on MelOn and No. 20 on Genie simultaneously at 7 p.m. KST. It was even trending at No. 1 on MelOn search.

Moreover, in the first hour of release, "Child" reached a total of 33,052 unique listeners on MelOn, which is known to be the largest music streaming platform in South Korea. This first-hour record is a notable feat for NCT Mark.

In particular, Mark's "Child" for the "NCT LAB" project is the first K-pop song released in 2022 to surpass 30,000 unique listeners on MelOn in the first hour. It has also taken the lead on the list of first-hour highest number of unique listeners of songs released in 2022.

NCT Mark's solo song "Child" has now surpassed Girls' Generation Taeyeon's "Can't Control Myself," which only gained 28,916 unique listeners on MelOn in the first hour.
So far, the top 3 highest unique listeners on MelOn in the first hour in 2022 are held by SM artists: NCT Mark, Girls' Generation Taeyeon and GOT the beat.
Meanwhile, Mark's "Child" has exceeded 81,000 unique listeners on MelOn in 11 hours after its release.

NCT Mark's "Child" Enters iTunes Charts + Gains Impressive YouTube Views in Less Than 24 Hours
Apart from entering domestic charts, Mark's "Child" also entered several iTunes charts. The song has reached No. 1 on iTunes Song charts in at least 12 countries as of 10 a.m. KST, including Bahrain, Peru, Mongolia, Vietnam, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and more.

"Child" also debuted on the US iTunes Song chart at No. 38. It went on to secure the No. 6 and No. 36 spots on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart and European iTunes Song Chart, respectively. It was the highest-charting K-pop song on the worldwide chart as of Feb. 4.

When it comes to its views on YouTube, NCT Mark's "Child" music video surpassed one million at approximately 8:50 p.m. KST on the day of its release. It then hit two million views at roughly 12:50 a.m. KST on Feb. 5.
As of writing, Mark's "Child" MV has surpassed 2.68 million views and 717,000 likes.
