Why is IVE Jang Wonyoung's Makeup Drawing Mixed Reviews?
When talking about the top fourth-generation female idols in K-pop, a name you cannot miss out on is IVE member Jang Wonyoung. The idol, who has been active since 2018 as a member of IZ*ONE, is known for pulling off many concepts and her attractive facial expressions on stage. Though well-loved, one part of her is drawing mixed reactions.

That is her make-up. Since her debut with IVE, people have noted that Jang Wonyoung's style has changed to become more bold and mature. However, the public does not widely accept this change.

During her time in IZ*ONE, Jang Wonyoung was famous for her fruity and innocent visuals. She often wore sparkly make-up and gems, but all were done in moderation. She never overlined her lips and typically wore matte eyeshadow with some glitter. The make-up style preserved her natural beauty and added just a tiny bit of glamour.

However, since debuting with IVE, Jang Wonyoung's makeup has become bolder and darker. People claim this makeup style causes her natural, clear visuals to get lost in the makeup.
In addition, it was noted that her makeup stylist uses an excessive amount of highlighter, shimmer eyeshadow and lip gloss, which make her face appear less natural.

While people say Jang Wonyoung still looks pretty, they are not fans of Starship Entertainment's bold makeup choices. Instead, a vast majority prefers the idol with light makeup or styling during her IZ*ONE days.
Furthermore, since she is only 17 years old, people say her makeup now makes her look older.

Additionally, people pointed out that Jang Wonyoung's bare face or face with minimal makeup is better than her current makeup style.
For example, during episode eight of "1,2,3 IVE," the girls are seen rehearsing for their "ELEVEN" stage. There, Jang Wonyoung is seen with light makeup. As a result, her skin's natural complexion was able to shine, and her beauty was enhanced with thin eyebrows and eyeliner.

IVE attained their 11th music show win on SBS's "Inkigayo" for their debut single, "ELEVEN," on January 23.
Cosmopolitan Korea unveiled IVE as their cover girls for their February 2022 issue on January 17. IVE's covers (both as a group and individual) and pictorial photos were shared online on the same day. Additionally, parts of IVE's interview with the magazine were shared online.
