As VIPs celebrate BIGBANG comeback after long hiatus, the status of whether member T.O.P will join the new release's activities sparked anticipation. Just then, his 2020 remark during an Instagram Live broadcast resurfaced, seemingly alluding to his plans outside YG Entertainment and the group.
BIGBANG T.O.P Hints at Future Plans as Idol: 'I won't make a comeback in Korea'
In particular, the idol's remark that resurfaced was captured from an Instagram Live broadcast in February 2020.
Sporting a messy, long hair and black sweater sans makeup, BIGBANG T.O.P conveyed his true feelings to fans.

"I just wanted to show myself once. I wanted to show you because people didn't seem to know how I was living," he explained.
During the broadcast, a fan asked about BIGBANG comeback, but the "Haru Haru" singer firmly said, "I will not make a comeback in Korea. I don't want to make a comeback itself. My friends are also against it (doing a comeback). People are so mean."

On February 7, 2022, YG Entertainment announced the group's return this spring.
According to the agency, all the recordings of BIGBANG's new song are currently completed, and the music video shooting schedule is has been set.
At the same time, the agency reported the expiration of BIGBANG T.O.P's exclusive contract with YG Entertainment.
"We respected T.O.P opinion that we would like to expand not only BIGBANG but also their individual activities. We also discussed it well with the members. He will join BIGBANG activities at any time if conditions are available," YG stated.
VIPs (BIGBANG fandom) were relieved that the idol will stay in the group; although it is not clear whether the male icon will join the upcoming comeback.
As a result, some recalled T.O.P's statement of not making a comeback in Korea, and wondered if it's still valid to date. At that time, the group is not seen in a positive light due to former member Seungri's controversy, but since the issue has subsides, some theorize T.O.P will join the comeback this spring.
On the other hand, T.O.P is reportedly planning to work as an artist and businessman as his main career and will promote with BIGBANG when the conditions were met.
Although he will leave YG Entertainment, he attested his love for BIGBANG and VIPs on Jan. 19, posting a photo of the group (GD, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung) with the caption, "#ilovemyband" and "#ilovemyfans."
