BLACKPINK debuted in August 2016 and after releasing several songs and albums, Rosé finally had her break as a solo artist in March 2021. She released her single album "R," which sold thousands of copies within the first week.

The title track for "R" is "On the Ground." Her pre-release was titled "Gone."

Fans of Rosé couldn't help but wonder why her debut solo album was in English. They initially thought that it was the singer's way of trying to reach a more global audience.

But BLACKPINK Rosé explained that she decided to release her first debut solo album in English because this is what felt right to her.

The singer-dancer also wanted to up the level of completeness of her songs that's why she decided to go this route.

In April 2021, Rosé sat down for an interview with Billboard where she talked about the song "On the Ground."

Rosé said that the theme of the song which is about priorities spoke to her the most that's why she decided to sing about it and not about other issues like heartaches and relationships.

At the end of the day, the song just felt right that's why she included it in "R."
