These 7 K-Pop Idols Had the Weirdest Reasons for Joining Their Label

When K-Pop idols share their stories of how they joined their label, many would say it's because they got scouted in public or that their role models or favorite artists are there, which led led them to go and participate in the label's auditions.

However, there are some cases where K-Pop idols joined their labels for an entirely different reason, and some of them are weirdly funny! With that, here are seven K-Pop idols who had the weirdest reasons for joining their label!

1. NCT Taeyong

Taeyong was just out and about when a casting manager had approached him for his visuals and explained that they were part of the "Big 3" labels, to which the idol had thought it was SBS, KBS, and MBC. Taeyong was initially reluctant to agree to go to the auditions, however, the casting manager bought Taeyong some bread, to which he finally accepted the calling card!

2. BTS V

Sometimes, idols never planned on auditioning to become a trainee, and that's what happened to V! The BTS member had stated in multiple interviews in the past that he had accompanied a friend auditioning for Big Hit Entertainment as a support. However, a Big Hit staff saw V and convinced him to audition.

After receiving permission from his dad, V auditioned and got in the label! His friend, however, did not. V was also the only person to pass the auditions in Daegu.

3. Girls' Generation Tiffany

Before joining SM Entertainment, fellow Girls' Generation member Sooyoung revealed that Tiffany had gotten a lot of business cards from different labels. However, the reason she chose SM Entertainment among them? Their business card was pink!

With SM Entertainment's signature color being pink, and Tiffany's deep love for the color, she definitely found the perfect label for her!

4. GOT7 Jackson

Prior to becoming a trainee, Jackson was a fencing athlete who was even in the running to compete in the Olympics. But while he was at school playing basketball, a representative from JYP Entertainment had visited and saw him. Jackson was then told that if he wanted to be a celebrity, JYP Entertainment was holding auditions.

Jackson agreed to audition for JYP Entertainment, but only because he thought BIGBANG was managed by the label! Needless to say, he was pretty bummed to discover BIGBANG was actually under YG Entertainment.

5. EXO Sehun

You know what our parents used to say, "never speak to strangers," and Sehun definitely tried to follow that instruction. While Sehun was an elementary school student having tteokbokki, an SM Entertainment casting manager had approached him to give him a business card.

However, as his parents told him about stranger danger, Sehun ended up running away, with the casting manager chasing after him for 30 minutes!

6. EXO Kai

Sometimes, we need something to motivate us, and something very much did for Kai!

Kai's father had encouraged the idol to audition for SM Entertainment. However, the label held the auditions on the same day Kai was scheduled to go to an interview for an arts school.

Initially, Kai had chosen to go to the interview instead of auditioning. But Kai's father bribed him, saying he would buy Kai a Nintendo video game if he participated in the auditions! We definitely know how that ended!

7. BoA

Another case of just going to support someone at an audition, BoA had accompanied her older brother to audition for SM Entertainment. While it was her brother who auditioned, SM Entertainment's talent scouts took notice of BoA and offered to sign her! Her parents were initially against the idea of BoA leaving school, but her brother was able to persuade her to join the label!
