Where Is The Grace Now? Status of SM Entertainment's First A Cappella Girl Group

Despite popularity in the 2000s, The Grace, an a cappella girl group launched by SM Entertainment suddenly disappeared from the music scene in the 2010s. About 12 years since their hiatus, where are the members now?

The Grace: Debut, Popularity in Japan, Stephanie Injury, Hiatus

In 2005, The Grace, also known as CSJH The Grace (in Japan) debuted under SM Entertainment. The group was originally comprised of four members: Dana, Lina, Sunday, and Stephanie.

Introduced as an a cappella group, The Grace received a mediocre response from Koreans due to their unconventional genre. Despite this, the career of the quarter in China and Japan was shockingly rising, they focused their promotion in these two countries instead. Their low sales and recognition in Korea continued till 2006.

In 2007, The Grace then experienced their "heydey" in Korea through their popular song, "One More Time, OK?" which genre drifted away from their past releases.

Since then, they received decent success in Korea and huge popularity in Japan not until Stephanie had a back injury, leading to the first hiatus of the group.

In 2011, the sub-unit, The Grace – Dana & Sunday was launched but after the duo's release, the quartet suddenly vanished from the music scene. Since then, there's been no further promotional information from SM Entertainment about the girl group.

Where Is The Grace Now? Status of Members in 2022

1. Dana

After the hiatus of the quartet in 2010, Dana promoted her sub-unit with Sunday in the following year before her career break.

During The Grace's break, Dana who initially debuted as a soloist under SM in 2001, then started her career as a musical actress. Some of her notable works include, "Rock of Ages," "Three Musketeers," and more. She made her return as a soloist in 2016, while continuing her musical career until 2018.

In 2021, Dana left SM Entertainment after 19 years. Since then, she disappeared from the music scene. According to reports, Dana, however, she continued her passion for music as a vocal coach.

2. Lina

After hiatus in 2010, Lina became a full-time musical actress notable for her performance in, "Moon Embracing the Sun" Musical, "Jekyll and Hyde," more.

In 2014, she confirmed her relationship with musical actor Jang Seung Jo and later on announced her marriage in the same year.

The two welcomed their firstborn in 2018, and through SNS introduced their secondborn in 2021.

In 2022, she is the only The Grace member who is still signed under SM.

3. Sunday

After briefly promoting with Dana through their sub-unit in 2011, Sunday also debuted as a musical actress.

In 2016, she returned to the music scene as a soloist through. her SM Station's solo track, "Still." Since then, she rarely appeared as an SM artist except for her reunion with Dana through SMTOWN Concert in 2019.

In 2020, she got married to her current husband and the following year, she ended her contract with SM Entertainment after 19 years.

Currently, she is preparing for her journey as a mother after announcing in March 2022 that the couple is expecting a baby.

4. Stephanie

After hiatus, the idol who was born and raised in the US returned to her hometown due to her back injury. In 2011, she reportedly joined Los Angeles Ballet.

After her recovery, she pursued her solo career in 2012 under Media Line, while still signed under SM until she terminated her exclusive contract with them in 2016.

As of 2022, Stephanie is the most active member of The Grace in the music scene. She is currently signed under WK Media since 2019.
