On May 12, a post titled "GD's explanation at the time of [his] and BoA's dating rumors" was made on the online community Nate Pann.
For starters, G-Dragon was embroiled in rumors of having a romantic relationship with BoA back in 2002, when he still hadn't made his debut as a BIGBANG member. At that time, G-Dragon was becoming popular as a YG Entertainment trainee. He was only 14 years old during that period, while BoA was 16 years old.

It is said that the two had many things in common, such as beginning their trainee lives early as a child. Later on, their relationship developed from friends to lovers. In his statement, the YG artist said, "Everyone knows that I have been a fan of BoA since a long time ago. Although I'm still young, I have grown up a lot. Anyway, we both debuted when we were young and we know what each other is like the most. We're not actually dating."
He further explained, "That's it. That's all that I mean and I'm sorry if it made you feel bad. Please think about the feelings of the person that each of us truly likes."
He concluded his post saying, "Also, I'm practicing hard to show you good performances at YG. I'm still young, so please look forward to me. That's all I want to say."

The male idol is renowned for being secretive when it comes to his love life after he debuted in the boy group. He has never spoken up despite being involved in dating rumors several times in the past. Hence, netizens are surprised to know that he once responded to his dating rumor.
