Who is Dreamcatcher JiU?
Kim Minji, more commonly known by her stage name JiU or her English name Lily Kim, is a South Korean singer and a member of the seven-member girl group, Dreamcatcher. She debuted with the group under Happyface Entertainment, now known as Dreamcatcher Company, as the leader, lead vocalist, lead dancer, and visual of the group back in January of 2017.
As a member of Dreamcatcher, JiU is one of the five members who were originally part of the girl group MINX until their re-debut under a new name.

1. JiU is a former MINX member

Back in September 2014, Dreamcatcher Company, who was then known as Happyface Entertainment, debuted the girl group MINX, which featured five of the current Dreamcatcher members: JiU, Siyeon, SuA, Dami, and Yoohyeon. During her promotions as a MINX member, she assumed the same positions as she has now.
The group promoted from 2014 until their last release in July 2015, in which the five members re-debuted under a new name, Dreamcatcher, and with the addition of members Gahyeon and Handong.
2. JiU participated in 'MIXNINE'

Back 2017, JiU participated as a contestant on the JTBC survival reality program "MIXNINE." She, along with fellow Dreamcatcher members Yoohyeon, Siyeon, and Dami joined the show while simultaneously continuing with their group activities.
Although JiU ranked within the Top 9 on several ocassions, she and the Dreamcatcher members had to leave the show due to conflicting schedules with their group activities. In the end, JiU ranked No. 95 on the final rankings.
3. JiU never dyed her hair until 'Prequel' promotions

Fans usually expect a K-Pop idol to sport crazy hair colors as part of their promotions, however, despite being the visual, JiU had actually never dyed her hair! That is until Dreamcatcher began promoting for their first mini album "Prequel" and its lead single "Fly High." During this time, JiU dyed her hair red for the first time and loved it. Since then, she has been sporting dyed hair.
4. JiU would have been a police officer or store owner

Seeing success as an idol is never a guarantee, and sometimes, some idols never expected to make their debuts. According to JiU, had she not become an idol, she would be working as either a police officer or an owner of a store, specifically for the French dessert, macarons!
5. JiU is a fan of BABYMETAL

In a past interview, when JiU was asked who she is a fan of, she mentioned Japanese kawaii metal band BABYMETAL. According to JiU, she thinks that the band is "cool," especially when they "shoot lasers our of their eyes."
