It is no exaggeration to say that the fourth generation of female idols was the trend in the first half of 2022. Due to this, GQ Korea selected the best songs released by girl groups that were highly noted in the first half of the year (January to May).

Here Are 5 Best Girls Group Songs - Check This Out!

1. January - GOT the beat's 'Step Back'

Despite its controversial release, it is not a lie that this collaboration song between top-tier singers truly hyped up the start of 2022.

In particular, "Step Back" was first unveiled at SM Entertainment's year-end and New Year's concert. Prior to its release, the group gained huge attention for its members comprised of BoA, Girls' Generation's Taeyeon & Hyoyeon, Red Velvet's Seulgi & Wendy as well as aespa's Karina & Winter.

2. February - STAYC's 'RUN2U'

Known for being a hitmaker since their debut, the fourth-gen girl group STAYC once again showed extraordinary presence as a "rookie monster" after they dropped "RUN2U" in February 2021.

As soon as the track was released, it showed unrivaled performance on various music charts including Gaon Chart, as well as bagged multiple awards from music shows.

Following re-organization as a five-member group, (G)I-DLE re-announced their strong presence as they dropped their new song, "TOMBOY" in March.

With the group's impeccable skills and visuals not to mention Jeon Soyeon's genius mind in producing music, the track became a huge hit despite strong competitors who made their comeback at the same time such as Red Velvet and Brave Girls.

GQ Korea also stated:

"It can be said that (TOMBOY) is a meaningful song not only in the first half of the year but also throughout this year."

After a successful debut with "ELEVEN" in December last year, IVE cemented its status as a fourth-gen representative group and overcome its initial image, "Wonyoung and friends."

With this song, not only Wonyoung stood out but other members including Liz, Gaeul, Leeseo, Rei and Yujin were also lauded for their strong presence throughout the release.

"LOVE DIVE" unleashed their individual charms and became key for them to becoming a well-balanced girl group.

5. May - LESSERAFIM's 'FEARLESS'

Excluding the school bullying controversy involving member Kim Garam, LE SSERAFIM showed its impact as a "group with class" through its debut song, "FEARLESS."

Although negative reviews were inevitable, most K-pop fans liked their song and performance and viewers can't wait to see more of their potential in the following years.

GQ added:

"Compared to the quality of the performance and song that the members have honed, the agency's ability to cope with crises is a little disappointing. Let's cheer for the cooler LE SSERAFIM of the second half."
