NCT Jisung 'Colorist' Remark on Haechan Draws Criticism – Here's What He Said

NCT Dream Jisung Under Fire for 'Colorist' Remark About Haechan: What Happened?
On June 9, internet users and K-pop fans, particularly NCTzens (NCT fandom) expressed disappointment over Jisung for allegedly making fun of his co-member Haechan's skin color.
In particular, the allegation sparked when a behind-the-scenes clip during the team's trip to Germany was revealed on its official YouTube channel.
In the video, Jisung and Chenle were seen spending their free time around the city of Frankfurt, ahead of their performance for the K-pop mega-concert, Kpop.Flex. They then stopped by a restaurant to grab their lunch and during the meal, the two male idols had a conversation about their food.

Chenle first claimed that they ordered food that "makes you paler."
Chenle, who is known for his fair skin joked:
"If you eat this, you will become paler. I'm serious. I ate this so much as a kid, that's why I'm so pale."
In response, Jisung said:
"I should buy eight of these."
While the talk seems like a typical conversation between friends, fans raised their brows when Jisung suddenly added:
"Do you think Haechan will become pale if he eats this?"
, to which Chenle replied:
"No."
When the clip reached Twitter fans, NCTzens immediately conveyed their surprise over Jisung's unnecessary remark.
Fans highlighted that it is offensive for Haechan and to his supporters. They accused the former of being a colorist.
Although the "Glitch Mode" singer didn't directly say anything about Haechan's color, his remark allegedly gave a negative implication that the idol needs to eat food that makes a person "paler" because he has a darker skin tone.
"Haechan is away but he still talks about his skin color."
"No one has the right to speak on another's skin color, especially when that person is not around."

While fans continue to criticize Jisung on social media platforms for his alleged colorist remark, some NCTzens try to educate the male idol about his actions.
According to the fandom, this is not the first time Jisung's statement backfired on him. In the past, he was once called out for making derogatory comments about Haechan's weight.
During a game, Jisung said to Haechan:
"Haechan, you are just so ugly. Please stop eating, you have to lose weight."
At that time, the fans just brush it away since Jisung is still a minor and it was supposedly a joke, but looking back, NCTzens pointed out that he actually did body shame his co-member.
Now that Jisung is an adult (20 years old), fans are claiming that it is past the point and he should start taking responsibility for his actions and reflect on his behavior.
"Will you ever learn Jisung? [...] you should know when to stop and draw the line."
"You're not a baby anymore so fans, please stop babying him and make him accountable for his words."
"Why should he be educated? He's a grown-up, he should educate himself by now."
