SMCU Worldview's Story So Far: aespa's Episode 2 'Next Level' Explained
The SMCU worldview video EP.2 "Next Level" of the girl group aespa has been released. On June 20, the clip was released on its official YouTube channel and attracted keen attention from global music fans.
Following the previous EP.1 video "Black Mamba," the EP.2 video showed a more dynamic story development and gained attention for its outstanding cinematography.
In particular, aespa is delivering a storyline connected to SMCU (SM CULTURE UNIVERSE), also called the SM Worldview.
In the first episode, released last year, the story began with aespa gathering together to prevent the Black Mamba, which plays the villain role in the video, from interfering with the connection between reality and the digital world (human and ae).
The second episode, "NEXT LEVEL," launched after more than a year, continued the story of aespa's journey to KWANGYA in search of the wandering Black Mamba in the multidimensional world.
It expanded aespa's story, leaving for KWANGYA with the help of Naevis, an artificial intelligence system that helps humans and ae connect.
Before encountering the villain, aespa experienced Black Mamba's hallucination quest first to solve the SYNK OUT phenomenon, the state where aespa got disconnected from their aes (avatar).
At the end of the video, the quartet finally broke the hallucination quest and met Black Mamba.
aespa to Release Second Mini-Album 'Girls'
Following the second episode's release, it amplifies expectations for the worldview storytelling, which will be continued through the release of aespa's second mini-album "Girls" on July 8.
This will be the hint for episode three of the SMCU worldview story to be released in the future.

aespa's second mini-album will consist of six songs, including the title song of the same name. K-pop fans are expected to enjoy the four-member group's more mature vocal charm and dynamic music spectrum.
Before its official release, the artists will officially drop their first English single, "Life's Too Short," on June 24.
The release of their second mini-album "Girls" is scheduled for July 8 in Korea and the United States.
On the other hand, the SMCU worldview comprises various strategies, including the CAWMAN, which stands for Cartoon, Animation, Webtoon, Motion Graphic, Avatar, and Novel, introducing a new genre of animation.
