Ex-'Produce 101' Contestant Jang Moon Bok Regrets Competing on 'Superstar K2'— Here's Why

Former "Produce 101" contestant and now LIMITLESS member Jang Moon Bok reveals his regrets about joining "Superstar K2."

Recently, former "Producer 101" contestant and now a member of boy group LIMITLESS, Jang Moon Bok, made a guest appearance on the June 21 broadcast of Channel S' variety program, "Attack on Grandma." In this episode, Jang Moon Bok shared some of his concerns.

In particular, Jang Moon Bok talked about one of his nicknames, "Hip-hop President." He got this alias when he appeared on the Mnet competition program "Superstar K2" when he was 15. He was given the nickname for his rapping style and distinct vocalization.

However, he soon learned that the nickname was made to mock him. The aftermath of his appearance included many people ignoring him at the time.

Jang Moon Bok shared that he started rapping simply because he liked music, which was also why he appeared on the show. However, he expressed his regret in appearing on "Superstar K2" after the mockery he went through.

"I regretted my appearance [on Superstar K2] due to the pouring disregard [I faced] after the broadcast. I didn't want to do music anymore at the time," Jang Moon Bok said.

Aside from that, he also shared that his mother became the subject of hurtful words because of him. "I don't know how they got our house's [phone] number. But my mom received a call, and suddenly they cursed at my mom harshly over the phone," he shared.

Thinking about his mother, who passed away due to ovarian cancer, Jang Moon Bok kept holding back his tears while saying, "My mom was only worried about me up until before her death. I don't think I have ever heard compliments from my mom, but I later found out that she was very proud of me."

He continued, "Looking back on the past, I wanted to become a son that my mother could be proud of, but I am sorry I couldn't. I am sorry that we couldn't make more memories when we were together."

The show's host Kim Young Ok tried comforting the idol, saying, "Life isn't what we want it to be without waiting."

Meanwhile, Jang Moon Bok rose to popularity after appearing as a contestant in the second season of "Produce 101" under ONO Entertainment in 2017.

Following his appearance on "Produce 101," Jang Moon Bok, under the stage name VOK is the main rapper of the ONO Entertainment boy group LIMITLESS back in July 2019.

After his debut with LIMITLESS, Jang Moon Bok became embroiled in a controversy involving his ex-girlfriend, who exposed the idol's ill-treatment of her. Since then, Jang Moon Bok has been under the radar.
