BTS Crowned Best K-pop Group in First Half of 2022
From June 20 to June 26, a survey was conducted on the Idol Chart, "Who is the best group that shone in the first half of 2022?"
On June 27, the results were finally unveiled, and among nominees, BTS ranked first with 15,558 votes (about 58% of the vote) out of 26,772 votes.
Indeed, the septet comprised of Jin, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook established their career with full-fledged group activities starting with a Seoul concert in January. It became the largest-approved mass gathering in South Korea since the pandemic restrictions with a total of 45,000 audiences.

In April, BTS then proved its fame and impact with two nominations for international music awards such as the Grammy and Billboard Music Awards. For the latter awards ceremony, they won three titles out of seven nominations. With this, the seven-member group became the most nominated and most awarded K-pop act in the ceremony's history.
Meanwhile, BTS also released its anthology album "Proof" on June 10, which contains nine years of history since its debut. "Yet To Come," the title song of the album, flaunts its popularity once again, achieving 113 million YouTube MV views in just two weeks since its release.
Fans anticipate if they will continuously shine this second half of the year, following the announcement of hiatus to focus on solo careers.
Top 20 Best K-pop Groups in First Half 2022: TWICE, fromis_9, More
Following BTS, TWICE, known for their honorific title, "Third-Gen Nation's Girl Group" came in second with 3,801 votes (about 14% of the vote).
This year, TWICE cemented their presence in the global market after completing concerts in three countries: Korea, the U.S., and Japan, as part of its fourth world tour, "III."
Some of their most notable achievement in 2022 include their record of being the first K-pop girl group to hold two separate arena tours in the world’s biggest music market with approximately 100,000 audiences.
Also, TWICE is the first female K-pop group to headline a stadium concert in the United States, particularly at the Banc of California Stadium.
In addition to this, their Japan concert also wrote new history as the first K-pop group to hold a solo three-day concert at the Tokyo Dome.
Lastly, fromis_9 ranked third with 2289 votes. This year, the girl group truly raised their status with their popular track, "DM," the lead song of its fourth EP, "Midnight Guest."
Through this album, they also broke its personal record of selling a total of 104,438 copies initial chodong (first-week sales).
On June 27, 2022, fromis_9 released their fifth EP, "From Our Memento Box," featuring the title track "Stay This Way," which had already surpassed 160,000 stock pre-orders, fromis_9's highest number of stock pre-orders to date.
