Many have pointed out that when each of the members would step up to receive their individual plaques, the officials would pose for a photo by lifting up the members' arms without any warning. As a result, the members' arms were lifted and twisted at an uncomfortable angle.

In the photos shared, the members can be seen looking uncomfortable as they were not expecting their arms to be lifted in the air awkwardly. Especially V, who looked surprised at the sudden action and was even looking at his arm.

Officials Draw Criticism for Rude Treatment to BTS

This treatment of BTS was shared on the online community forum TheQoo, which has since then amassed more than 106,700 views. In the comments, many have criticized the officials and politicians for doing such a thing without consulting the members first. Others have even begun to criticize the current administration of President Yoon Seok Yeol.

Some comments from netizens read:

"Why is everyone in Yoon [Seok Yeol]'s administration acting like that? Why do they all act so vulgar, one and the other? It makes me wonder if they are doing it on purpose at this rate."

"Seriously what the hell are they doing? I want to erase this memory of them deteriorating the national prestige, but I can't. They don't even know how to keep basic manners. Don't they see the members' taken aback expressions and feeling uncomfortable? Or are they just pretending?"

"You can't even tell from the pose that this is what they were planning to do. At least consult with [the members] first? Why would you randomly lift someone's arm like that. The members must have been so shocked. Just looking at them makes me embarrassed and uncomfortable. They are ambassadors for the World Expo, where everyone around the world is watching, can they at least do it right?"

"Ah I am freaking pissed off. You can clearly see what they are thinking right now. Those f*ckers are freaking rude. They are ignorant and vulgar, I seriously hate them so much."

"Wow, that is so rude. Why are they lifting up their arms like that?"
